This is getting better every day! Those TJ F-4Ds and TF-100F make me sick... with envy.(quote)

Yes! When I started with 'serious' aircraft spotting, october 1981, the Danish Airforce was still flying their F-100F's but I never saw them. :(
Once even a threeship made a low approach at Eelde on their way to Leeuwarden, could you imagine?!

I do have a lot of Soesterberg-related pics too, but it is not possible for me to post them due to technical reasons, unfortunally...

Therefore, continue this topic, please! :D

Eventhough the quality of the pics I show below is poor due to the way I kept them in the early days, I couldn't resist to contribute to this awesome topic. Pics are taken from the spottershill.

What a feast, thanks all for those great additions. I can't stop either.
Anticipating the September 81 Open Day I bought my first telelens, a Tokina 70-150...

'Sorry', more Phantoms  F-4F 38+03 with nice big serial taking off on 04aug81.

Image
Another VC-140B Jetstar visited on 19aug81. With its appearance like a mini airliner and all-moving tail surface I think this is one of the coolest bizjets ever built.

Image
The Eagles had the 32TFS badge on the left intake and the 17th AF emblem on the right one (79-0028/CR on 18aug81).

Image
G-91T-1 34+44 has just pulled the chute on 26aug81.

Image
One day later FX51 in its fabulous c/s and with some extra titles (including 'TIR' like on a truck) joined the Fiat on the X-service platform.

And while the main runway at Valkenburg was being resurfaced, some of the Dutch Neptunes operated out of Soesterberg:

Both taken on 28aug81.

US civil regis (like those in Germany and a few other countries) may be re-used. Your pic is G-II 160, and from mar85 till mar05 N80J was G-III 441. Your N80J became N801 in jul84, had four more regis since and was converted to a G-IISP apr98. 8) The regi is currently assigned to a BAe125-800XP.

Hi guys,

It's great to see so many old photos from local grounds. It may be clear that the F-4 Phantom was high on almost everybodíes list.

Personally I really enjoyed the gear-up shot of MLD SP-2H 203/V. I wish I had shot that myself....

Keep it up guys !

Cheers,
Iwan

PS: As topics on this messageboard disappear after a while, would it be a good idea to set up a special page with loads of photos from Soesterberg (or any other airbase) ? Ik know that Valkenburg already has one...

Yep, absolutely a good idea. I won't be the one doing this on short notice though, but my pics are available for it should anyone set this up!

Some more 50mm & converter stuff...
23jul81 brought a Wildenrath Phantom and Bierset Mirage 5. Brake chutes are go.

When leaving, the FGR2 showed those Spey engines may not smoke like they should, but they do flame.
Image

Jumping to 31aug81 again we got a nice 314TAW desert C-130E.

Pair of Eagles returning from a Scramble on 01sep81.

Sidewinders and Sparrows on 79-0029/CR. With both fighters carrying eight AA missiles and a gun they had enough ordnance to bring down a whole squadron of adversaries.

Edit:
Oh well, let's add another Phantom... Torrejon F-4D showing how it's done on a Friday afternoon (04sep81):
