USAF emergencies

Post by Ergo01 »

Last year I witnessed a precautionary landing by an F15E at Soesterberg. Others in the past were an F-100 that collided with a TV-tower in Smilde. This Alabama F4 had a problem. The aim was to have him catch the heavy barrier, but he got stuck in the light one-for F5 class aircraft.
This barrier was ruined, but luckily nothing serious happened.

RAF visitors

Post by Ergo01 »

This Shackleton is an early AWACS mission aircraft. Wish I could listen to the noise of those engines again.

As if it was only yesterday. The slide does not carry a date. These are XZ387/DN and XZ391/DP from 31 Sqn RAF Bruggen.

The Jags could be about 1980 - I got XZ391/DP during the TAM at Ramstein in June that year.

Slow pace

Post by Ergo01 »

I do one at a time. In the sixties we had C-131s twice a week, Medevac. Later on we had training flights of T-29s. In the 80-ties we had the occasional visit of the Mildenhall Navy hack.

Seen them before on this site, but redundancy is not a great offence I hope.

Wow guys, hate that I missed all the action back then.., lived near Valkenburg and at that time was satisfied with the Atlantics, Orion, occasional touch and go's of NF-5's and some visitors...

Anyway, might not be the right place, perhaps this would fit better under the Dinosaurs thread, but does any of you have - preferably color - pictures of 32 FIS T-33's, F-86's, F-100's and F-102's ??
Majority I found are black and white, which is obvious for that era, but most don't show the kind of detail that I'm looking for...

Chinook in the 70-ties

Post by Ergo01 »

Just like the C-130 the CH-47 has a long history, being still in production after so many years. There was a time that US Army performed transport tasks for 32 FS. This one was seen on a winters day in January 1977.
