"Just" a visitor on a 'regular' Belgian Open Day. I have also a picture of this Galaxy on the static; will post it later.

Rob, Great Galaxy scans! Lots of smoke coming from the core of those TF39s. You don't see that anymore.

According to my information - but I could be wrong -the 138th FIS never flew F-101B Voodoos.
I think this should be the 136th FIS (107 FIG) "New York's Finest" , which operated the type from 1971 tot 1982.

Hans, you got it-and I knew that, but my fingertips did not when I wrote that caption. I'm glad your catching my typos, they can make a difference!

Speaking of the 138th (TFS), here is what they were operating in that time frame:

After I uploaded the A-37B Dragonfly shot above, I began to wonder, "what on earth is in the intake?"

I went back to the original TIFF scan and picked up the detail needed to answer the question, namely it is an intake cover, plainly visible in the lower contrast closeup. Swinging down the intake grill and placing the cover into the intake was normal, I suppose, but where were the covers were carried during flight? The external configuration of this aircraft was typical, with what appeared to be six external fuel tanks (sometimes making me wonder if the job of the A-37 was to haul fuel around). Anyway, maybe one of those tanks is really a travel pod, though a bit large. Can anyone help?

Delightful, simply delightful. Here is one from a 6X9 color negative that seems to have held up pretty well.
