A view in the past

Post by Jan »

Past week been digging in my personal archive and came to the conclusion that the last 2 decades it has been going extremely fast with decommissioning of numerous types of aircraft.
Fact is that most airforces have been decimated and some airforces have pulled out of Europe completely.
Also the introduction of new types have led to retire others.
To give you a glimpse of what has been are here some examples.

Nice pica's. But the cold war is over. No need for so much hardware anymore. Progress can not be halted. And don't forget that we also welcomed some new kids on the block the last few years.

C-17's in the UK and into NATO
Eurofighters in Spain, Germany, Italy, Austria and UK
F-16's in Poland and Italia
Rafale's in France
Grippens in Sweden, Czech Republic and Hungary
Merlins in de UK, Italy, Denmark and Portugal
etc
I always say a boy can learn more at an airport than at any school.

Yes I know but numbers have since been decimated and nice rotations are rare and overal diversity has been spiraling down and lots of nice bases have closed and flying activity is very low nowadays.
