The decision has been taken
to allow up until the end of Feb 2020
for serious, costed and plausible offers
to be received for the Marham Victor, XH673.
The aircraft will come free of charge but will have to be moved at the receiver’s expense.
Any successful bidder will need to demonstrate
that they have the financial means and practical capability to effect such a move.
The Spring and Summer months would present the best opportunity
to carry out the move activity and a time scale for this can be negotiated.
Between now and the end of Feb 2020, DESA will carry out a ‘scrapping survey’
in the event no workable bids are received.
If the aircraft is to be scrapped,
then Marham wish to preserve the tail fin and mount it as an appropriate memorial to the Victor force
– in a similar location to where the aircraft is now.

As you may be aware earlier in the year the Defence Equipment Sales Authority and RAF Heritage`
were looking to see if there was anyone that was in a position to remove and restore the Victor Gate Guardian from RAF Marham.
Unfortunately no-one has come forward who has the capability to remove and restore her
so the difficult decision has been made to dispose of her.
Whilst RAF Marham will be sad to dispose of an aircraft that played an important role in the heritage of the station
we are reassured that there is a Victor
in the skilled and professional care of the Royal Air Force Museum Cosford and the Imperial War Museum collection at Duxford.
We are reassured that the story of the Victor fleet and those who flew and supported it
is preserved for perpetuity for the Nation and the national collection.
Before the disposal process begins we would like to give the opportunity
for a small number of people to come and see her for the last time on Saturday 10th October 2020.
Due to the COVID-19 restrictions the number that we are able to allow onto the station
will be limited and there will be time slots allocated for viewings
followed by a short visit to our Aviation Heritage Centre.
Priority for the visit will be given to people that have a link to the Victor,
whether you have previously worked on the Victors or are a family member of a previous crew.
Please register your interest by 18th September 2020 by emailing @mod.gov.uk
with your name, details of your affiliation to the Victor and your location
so we can allocate an appropriate time slot should you be successful.
Successful applicants will then be contacted by 23rd September 2020 for further details.
