C47 in Scheveningen garden

Post by Tofin »

Dear Sirs

I would like to ask if anyone in the Netherlands know more about the story behind a copckit that was found in a garden of a home in Scheveningen.

The aircraft, a Douglas C47 flew previously in Argentina for Aerolineas Argentinas and the Air Froce and later in Bolivia (air force) where it suffered a crash incident.

The cockpit was photographed in 2017 and 2019 in Flicker. It portrays the KLM colour markings and three stickers, one for pilot, co-pilot and another as Purser Pietje.

Do you know how this cockpit came to the Netheralnds? It is possible it belongs to a fomer KLM staff?
The photographer does not know, but could only comment that in the house he heard Russian being spoken.

Thank you.

The aircraft is owned by the owner of the house which is rented by the russians. When the rent ends he will put it in the back of his garden and restore it. Until then it is stored at the other side of the fence in the public park. Arrived by 2013, ex Bolivia AF.

The 17th of May this year the site was visited, but the cockpit wasn't found. Gone ? Or blindness from my side?

Also visited the 10th of July and the cockpit is not found in the house. Also not in the little park in behind the house back fence. The house is empty and being reformed.

Do you know if the owner is a former KLM employee? curiouss what is the story behind. The aircraft never flew for KLM but still had KLM markings.
