Maybe reported elsewhere: but RF 18-1 has learned that friday is no-fly day for RF. So no daylight, no night missions on fridays.
Seems to be a decision by the new commander.

Last Friday was the last day of RF 18-1. They flew one wave as usual.

So if I went the first Monday (12th) would it be at full swing? If so, at what time does d launches/recoveries occur, and from what I know this exercise will coincide with Green Flag 18-05 so is there also different launching times from red flag?

Pilot008,

Go for the day! The Green Flag times vary and it's not uncommon for them to launch before daybreak. I have been at the base at dawn to read the numbers off and watched GF stuff land soon after. RF, GF and the base jets integrate their launches so you can get a good mix throughout the day. Not all of the based stuff flies with the exercise stuff so they do their own missions, outside of the RF and GF waves...

Former Hill F-16's

Post by BasS »

On Jan 28 I noted 7 former Hill F-16's (4x 4th FS yellow and 3x 421st FS black) all lined up with two WA F-16's behind. Did any of the RF goers manage to read these off? If so, I'd also be grateful for some help on the 13 FF F-22's outside, the 14 SJ Strikers and the Draken A-4's (5) and L-159's (9).

Hi, you can Always check notams for Nellis AFB, and this sometimes give indication if they have early or late (night) RF missions.

Does anyone know if the no-fly Friday will be applied to 18-2?
Thanks

Just curious if Nellis AFB posts the units involved with Green Flag like they do for Red Flag? I'm looking for both Red and Green Flag units for the upcoming exercises in a few weeks. Thanks for any help.

Re GF, no, Nellis doesn't post the units involved. Re RF participants, read this thread from the beginning...

Beware....there are persistent rumors that RF18-2 is becoming a “USA only”.
So (already confirmed bij Columbians) no columbian Kfirs, no mirage 2000-9 UAE and belgian F16’s. They will (according to the rumors) come to red flag 2018-3 in July.

At the positive side.....California ANG self confirmed with the f15 eagles and DM with the a10’s....

I need an advice.
I will be in the neighborhood of LV from March 19 till March 23. I can go to Nellis for a day or two. What would be best days for spotting?
Thanks!

79th, 93rd, 175th, 176th, 193rd FS for RF so far.
134th & 510th FS are still lingering from RF18-1
