REQ: weekend flying at Yuma and Nellis?

Post by paul-760 »

I'm planning a family trip to the USA and try to squeeze some photo opportunities in the programm.. It turns out might be passing MCAS Yuma on a Saturday. Can anybody confirm that they actually fly during the weekend?

Same for Nellis: what about flying activities a normal Saturday afternoon (i.e. no Red or Green Flag days)?

Thanks in advance!

I haven't been there whilst they were flying, but last time I visited on a Saturday morning shortly after sunrise and found a few MH-47s, F/A-18s and an AV-8B on deck at the general aviation apron, so it might be worth checking that out.
Cheers,
Gideon

Paul
I stopped off at Yuma in March around lunchtime on the Saturday of the El Centro show. There were two based Harriers flying - sort of very long circuits. As per other post, do check around the FBO for visitors.
Well worth a stop!

Nellis would be pretty much zero flying on weekends

tracking exercises will produce results for decent tail spotting ventures. Exercises such as Green Flag & JFEX fly on wknds; also Red Flag fam flights & evolutions of Weapons School Integration & grad class will also fly; Operation NEPTUNE FALCON is also a huge player aboard Nellis, as well. WTI, as Osxar mentioned, flys wknds outta hotYuma, as well as iterations of ITX.
