VRM-50
169457 40

Just caught 169457 yesterday, she is the first bird I've seen from VRM-40 Mighty Bisons. Side number on nose but not on tail, VRM-40 on fuselage under wing ( at least on port side). I've got photos, but I am still wading thru 3 1/2 days of Red Flag. Wasn't paying super close attention on scanner, so I didn't catch the call sign.

Mighty Bisons established at NAS North Island last year, moving to Norfolk in 2023.

1 Feb all aircraft landing on 29 except as noted

169442/35 //Rudy 35 VRM-30 CMV-22B

N715AL //latest in Rampart NZY fleet (arrived last 2 months) Kahuna 15 DHC-6 Twin Otter
165378 //VR-62 KC-130T
169453 //Rudy 23 VRM-30 CMV-22B

landing on runway 36: C-17
take off on runway 18: 4x XA-18 (Growlers or -Fs) never returned
heard on scanner/ observed but no numbers: Troy 193 Customs and Border Patrol H-60

169454/24 //Rudy 24 VRM-30 CMV-22B side number now visible

Thanks for the correction, should have realised that. They use the same area as VRM-50.

Many thanks d14. I wonder if VFA-147 are swapping out their jets for newer models?

Mark et al

There aren't any new F-35C models being delivered :D VFA-147 are back under CJSFW control pending re-assignment to a LANTFLT air wing, hence the 'NJ' codes; VFA-97 have replaced them as NE-400 series MODEXes with CVW-2.

Cheers
