Re: Swiss fighter jet competition

for the Swiss, i think the Rafale or Typhoon would be the best option. the F-35A with its stealth capability seems overkill for a neutral nation, especially when its for air defence only. you dont need stealth for that. the Super Hornet could be operated (along with the typhoon) together with Germa...

Swiss fighter jet competition

Very narrow majority today (50.1%), but the Swiss people voted in favor of the jet fighter acquisition. The winner will be selected next year. Still in the race: F/A-18E/F, F-35A, Rafale, Typhoon.

Re: New F-16s for the Republic of China Air force

Good choice. Would have been a good and wise plane for the Netherlands as well...... They do not HAVE a choice, F-35 is not cleared for Taiwan and most countries do not sell arms for fear of repercussions of China. If they could, they would have bought F-35s. Nevertheless you see it as “proof” to s...

Re: F-35 Lightning II developments

Not sure if 149 is still the final nr for Lot-12. After the 'final' agreement in October, the US government threw another 20 for FY18 and 16 for FY19 in the mix. This award brings the Department of Defense into compliance with Congressional direction by placing all 20 FY18 (Lot 12) and 16 FY19 (Lot ...

Re: F-35 Lightning II developments

Congress announced a deal for FY2020 (lot 14 I think) that includes a whopping 98 F-35s for the US DoD. 62 F-35A for the USAF (Congress added 14 to the original 48) 36 F-35B/C for the USMC and USN (originally 10 B, 10 C USMC and 10 C USN, I do not know if the 6 extra are all C for the USN/USMC or th...

Re: F-35 Lightning II developments

A few F-35A were added to LRIP-11 in a later stage, I think (actually I am sure) 18-5336-40 are the ones. Lot-12 (not LRIP-12 but lot 12 or MY-1 since we are now entering full production) should start with AF-232
