The remaining two 388th FW jets diverted to Aviano AB due to refuelling issues en route. Despite tanker issues all three cells of these jets escaped Lakenheath to Hill AFB on the fifth. The first cell (TABOR11/14) departed some three hours after engine start and two hot-pit refuellings. That must qualify for the gold standard for fuel wastage!.
