SA330 G02 Wijchen

Post by witje »

According the new Scramble updates a Gendermerie SA330L should be stored at Wijchen (NL). Does someone know if it’s visible from outside?

A bit of research and effort could give you that information ;-)
I used Google to find the post you also have added now, and contacted the Monkey Town playground. They told me they don't have a helicopter, but there is one with their neighbours, which can be seen when you enter their premises. I then checked Google Earth and compared it with the photo I found with Google, and concluded it must be in the building immediately left of Monkey Town, with the rounded roof. As the photo shows both front and back side are open, I presumed the chopper would be visible.

Yesterday I would be in the area anyway, so I made a little detour. It turns out the chopper is in the storage area of Tender One, a cocktail bar manufacturer and renter. It can easily be seen from the public road on the Western side of the building. The address is Nieuweweg 197D in Wijchen. I was told it is there since a few months. A look inside revealed it has been turned into, yes, a cocktail bar. The tailboom with the serial wasn't present, but the far end of the tail was, with c/n 1237 painted on it just below the tail rotor.

This one went to Sweden years ago for spares, and it wsa presumed to have been scrapped. Clearly not true, luckily. It is still in the original colours, but the inside has been stripped.

It left Sweden in 2021, apparently for Belgium, although that now seems to be incorrect....

Tailboom with serial came with the rest of the helicopter, it was next to the trailer at one time.

I saw a picture of that indeed, but when I visited it was nowhere to be seen. But it seems they use it as a complete helicopter when at festivals, so I am sure it is still around.

Today I saw this one I think at Reuver Limburg in the morning complete with tail boom. On my return the boom was removed. It was there for Festival this weekend. So probably heading to somewhere else again after today
