This has been discussed in this forum before. It is NOT correct! KC-30M is only used by the RAAF.

Gerard, you still are not correct. The RAAF has KC-30A's not M.
This is a badge worn by the crews of the MMU
https://flic.kr/ps/3ZscVA so end of discussion I think.

There are many badges around with wrong indications. Maybe crews popularily use it, but as Alpha Kilo One mentioned, you can check their official documents online.
By the way, I recently asked one of their staffmembers in Cologne and they do not even know the type KC-30M!

A bit childish reaction. As a matter of fact the staffmember involved was the Deputy Chief of Operations, so yes you know better….. and keep dreaming.
Time doesn‘t have to tell. As suggested above, check their documentation online.

Nice source you have, but I work at/with the MMU, (maybe in the kitchen). The official name is KC-30M, but some still call it by the name the factory gave it. The main user is Germany and they are used to call their tankers MRTT's so they stick to their old habits and call new ones also MRTT's. But the official name for the "Dutch" aircraft is KC-30M. A Viper is officially a Fighting Falcon and a Panther a Lightning 2.

You can give it any name you want, but the official factory name isn't KC-30M.
So stick to your old fashioned way, I don't care ...

A nickname is something different then a official name, isn’t it. In a way you just proved yourself wrong with that argument. So you can call a Lightning II Panther, but it is still a Lightning II. Same with the KC-30….

KC-30M is de Klu typeaanduiding. Inmiddels zou de NAVO dit overgenomen hebben. Zo is het mij verteld

Ga maar eens zoeken in officiële documenten dan.
Officieel bestaat de KC-30M helemaal niet.

'Factory name' wasn't KDC-10 either, yet that's what we all use, right? Same for SH-14D...
And for those calling to 'check official papers', maybe post a link if those are public. Otherwise it is a bit of a discussion killer, if those can't be checked by non-defence employees you can state whatever you like, it can't be verified.
And even then, it is not just about 'stubborn people'. Ever heard of the MB-339PAN, supposedly flown by the Frecce Tricolori? The side of the aircraft has always shown and still shows MB-339A. 'Stubborn people' still use MB-339PAN even though it is for every one to see it is not.
Ever seen a + sign on a German Army Alouette 2 or EC.135?

I have no clue which one is correct A330MRTT, A330-200MRTT, A330-243MRTT or KC-30M. But being rude doesn't really close the discussion. I honestly find it more likely there is not really an officially assigned name. Especially because the Dutch do not have a official naming structure for their aircraft and seem to be using whatever fits. See KDC-10, SH-14 and others that are not used anywhere else and don't fit any pattern and certainly weren't factory designations. Henceforth it is quite likely both names can and are used. The more because as already mentioned, it is also multinational and the Germans have their own quirks if it comes to naming aircraft (what did they use for the Tornado again, PA-200 or something?).

I like to be proven wrong.
But KDC-10 was official type in press release at the time it came into service.
As these where modified DC-10-30CF the T-255 was still a DC10-30CF

And the navy (MLD) had some sort of type allocation system for not US types
They were chronological
AH-12 for Wasp
SP-13 for Atlantic
H-14 for Lynx
AB204 were UH-1 eg.
The S11 comes right before the Wasps so from there they started counting?
Would be interesting to know if the NH90 would be SH/UH-15!?
