F-35A Florennes

Post by foxAlex »

As you are certainly aware, we will be welcoming our first F-35 aircraft at the 2W Tac this Monday, October 13.
We understand the excitement that this event will generate within your community.
It reflects the significant milestone our Air Force will reach with the arrival of these new aircraft.

That said, we kindly ask you to respect the following rules:

Drone flights are strictly prohibited over EBFS within a radius of 2 NM (3.7 km).
For more information: Use of drones in military airspace | Defence

Only two spotting points are authorized around our base :

1. Spotting point on the Chaumont side, near our secondary runway

2. Spotting point on the Jusaine side, at the end of the main runway

This event will take place with the support of the local police, and patrols will be carried out in the surrounding areas.

Any spotter found outside one of the two designated areas will be asked to leave the premises.

A four ship F-35A formation is expected around 15.00 local, with some F-16s and (at least) one A330 MRTT. Landing scheduled at 15.15 local.

Acc ADSB two NATO A330MMF (T-057 and T-061) flew Ft Worth-Lajes on Thu 9 October, obviously with the four Belgian F-35A in tow. Understand major event for Belgian military, but a little surprised that two tankers have a three day weekend break on Azores to make sure the final leg to the in-country first aircraft arrival. :o
