Hi Crizz,

I think I have a problem and thanks for posting the photo. This does not look like the same position of the one we saw. It was to the east and behind the row of 6 x 29s in a revetment. But it was not surrounded by trees and buildings like 915 as we got a very clear view of the tail and rear fuselage. In fact one of my photographs (a very poor photo) from the bus managed to catch the Mig in the background and I do not think it was the same one.

Were there any others in that area.

Mig-29s / QRA area

In the QRA area (or "Mig sheds") I saw one Mig in the left, one in the right and two between the sheds, one of which was the 18 which taxied over there after flying with the 10 on Saturday morning. I couldn't see the one in the middle shed. Can one of you help to identify the missing Migs in this area?
On the Gripen front, there were 9 on the flight-line Satuday morning, 30, 32, 33, 34, 36, 37 (later towed into hangar), 38 & 42. plus one unidentified (pesky steps) assumed to be the 31. Five flew in the demo at 10.00, can't tell you which ones, sorry!

Stored line near static
the two stored Mi.8's near the L.39 line are the 10437 and 10431 (the last one is not read by myself)

Flightline near MiG dispersals
I have PC.9 065 instead of 067 for the Croats, misread?
In the morning until around 12.00 clock all 9 JAS.39 were on one flightline later 2 were pulled to the hanger
I also saw Mi.8 10444 here (correct?)

MiG sheds in the east
Around 14.30 hours I saw (walking with 2 british spotters) 5 MiG.29's one in each of every shed and 2 in between the sheds. So probably no. 10 and 18 + 3 others. It is now interresting to know when no. 10 was pulled to the other side, as then is would be no. 18 + 4 others!?
In the morning I read 18 between the most northern sheds. In the morning no 10 and 18 came from there when they took part in the flypasts.

Very early on saterday morning (7.15 ) a Mi8/17 came in probably one of the ones parked on the field in the west part.
10446 came in around 8.30 hour followed immediately by
R504 a H.500 of the Police this one past the field in the east and flew of again.

Hi,

Did some counting on the Fulcrums

Thanks to Crizz we know

16 MiG.29's stored (06, 01, 12, 08, 20, 24, 25, 14, 07, 11, 03, 19, 05 16, 28, 29)

we all know on the field
4 MiG.29's (04, 23, 26, 27)

In and near the east sheds
5 (including 10 and 18 )

total of 25 so we miss one

BUT:
if the 10 was pulled away and placed with the 16 stored ones then the sum is:

17 (16 stored ones + the 10)
4 (on field)
5 (in the east)
total of 26 which means we can locate all the Fulcrum

So I if anyone can give the time no. 10 was pulled from the east to the west, we can place all MiG's on the field :lol:

No one has mentioned the beautiful PdeF Alfafa Jets! From left to right, or was it right to left they were E numbers: 135, 158, 75, 41, 117, 130, 165, 168, 162 & 31.

Also: has anyone actually confirmed the second Mi-8 under camo netting in the base museum? There was some confusion on the Mi-8 situation here in 2005.

Plus, did anyone notice two An-26s leaving Szolnok around 10.00 on Saturday to do the para drop - I guess they were unreadable over Kecskemet, certainly from the traffic queue I was in!

The 2 Mi.8's under teh camo were 10437 and 10431
The last one was not readbale from the public part. I got this number from some Scottish spotters. First one was readable.

As far as I could tell the An26 were the same that took part in the flypass; 407 and 110.

MiG-29 situation

These are the MiG-29s we saw and read of ourselves:

Static: 04, 26

Storage: 23
Under camouflage netting

Dispersals: 01, 03, 05, 06, 07, 08, 11, 12, 14, 16, 19, 20, 22, 24, 25, 28, 29
There was one row of seven, one row of four and two rows of three aircraft. At first we also read 10 here, but this was 12.

Flightline: 27

QRA: 09, 10, 15, 18, 21
Left shed 09, middle 21, right 15 and both others were parked outside between them. These also flew in the morning.

Only 02 and 17 were not seen, but they are both very dead. The wrecks of these should also be somewhere on base, but were not noted by us.


The aircraft in the dispersals and with the QRA were read from the parking lot on the western side and the far side of the runway. There is a decent dirt track, but you probably have all seen that in the Scramble Airfield Guides.

Morning all,

Crizz and I have agreed that we both saw different Mig-21s behind the revetments. Crizz took the excellent photo on this thread and agrees that the Mig-21F-13 or Mig-21PF in the trees behind the Mig-29 line of six was different.

Does anyone have any ideas which this other one was?

Hi Starman,

And no, I am not that Scotsman of ilk in question. So can not confirm the second Mil-8. There were 2 or 3 Scots there, long walk! In touch off Group.

Mi-8s near L-39 storage

The two Mi-8s behind the MiG-29 were 10431 and 10437 'SFOR'.
Further to the left in this area was the tailboom of 10426 with a bit of wreckage of an unknown 'something'.

Although this gate was guarded you could simply walk towards the Mi-8s.

No, just a mistype from my side, it was indeed 065

It seems the 10 must be the 12 after all. I don't know how it is possible to misread 10 for 12, but apparantly it happened this time. See post of Jurgen.

Oops, indeed forgot those. But I read the 168 as 163

Now I still need the Serbian AF G-2 flying on Saturday, anyone for that one?

Erwin, and 5,000 Scotsmen, you are almost certainly correct on the E163 rather than E168, but you know how it is, I was getting so excited .....

By the way, you Dutch guys don't bother logging your own aircraft, or your Flamant neighbours'? Or is it just not done to mention Vipers at a MiG base?
