Those are some really interesting shots. Although many of the planes are in quite a bad shape.

Thanks for posting!

Interesting...but a shame that most of them are in covers.

It looks like there are some nice planes. A shame they are left outside like that.
Kind regards

The airplanes are indeed in a sorry situation. The hard sunshine and cold winters those airplanes have to go true are of course not good and there is also the terrible wind form time to time. The mistral-wind was blowing at around 100 km/h at the time the pictures were taken with a lot of dust and sand flying around. I had a nice chat with Mr. Tourniaire (the owner of the collection) and the most sorry thing for those airplanes and owners is that they don't receive any help at all! The town (Orange) is not interested in helping them with some money or anything. Many technical schools in the region were also asked if they were interested in helping them restoring these birds but again a negative answered occured. Also the reighbouring airbase shows not very big interest. Old mechanics and/or pilots were asked to come to help when possible; a lot of positive answers this time came in but... nobody since then showed up. Remarkable is finally that there is only 3!!! (over 65years old) people helping in restoring them, even the webmaster stopped his work. Only the SMB-2, Mystere IV and now the Etendard have received a new paintjob. Mr.Tourniaire said that the main goal of them was to get the airplanes as complete as possible. All of the aircraft are more or less 100% complete with instruments and engine!.

Felle.

p.s.: Mr.Tourniaire is looking for someone who can offer his airplanes a big hangar and he would like to add to his collection a RF-84 and/or a F-104 in the near future. Anyone who can help, can contact the association: http://www.musee-a5e.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; or can contact me who will send him a message.
