Casualty...

A Luftwaffe Alpha Jet of JaBoG49 was severely damaged in a wheels-up landing at Soesterberg AB, the Netherlands on march 13. The aircraft's hydraulic system failed on the approach to Soesterberg. The crew of two were not injured and the aircraft, serial 40+66 will be dismantled and returned to its base by road.

FLIGHT international, 11 april 1981

(According to the well-known database from Scramble this aircraft is flying in Portugal nowadays as 15221!)

This same aircraft suffered a mid-air collision with 15234 (which crashed) on 22/10/2003, landed safely with minor damage but was wfu though. Today is used as a spares supplier to the rest of the fleet.

Found some old slides and quickly borrowed a scanner. First quick scan looks promissing.

Nice shot I think of a Phantom from Hahn with an Eagle in the background. Must have been early 80's.

Nice to see that HR Phantom - must have been taken during a deployment in April 1981. There were at least 5 of them, usually towing targets.
