All German military bases close at 12:00hrs on Fridays. After that there will be no activity anymore until the next Monday. So maybe should reconsider your scheduled visit on Friday :!:
Hmmmm... last Friday, July 31st 2009, there was still a lot of flying activity until 1400 hours!!!

First wave started between 08.00 and 09.00 - 6 - 7 Hornets and 7 - 8 Phantoms
Second wave started between 12.00 and 13.00 - 5 - 6 Hornets and 5 - 6 Phantoms

I left Wittmund at 1400 hours so what happened afterwards is for me a ?

When exactly will the Hornets leave? I've read some different things about this.

Oke, that's rather unusual. Could the presence of the Hornets have anything to do with it? Good to see though and might be good news for Maikel?!

According to SIS-Summary, the TDY hornets should leave on the 12th of August, but it also mentions the 28th of August.

I know it had to be the 12th. But perhaps they stay a bit longer to continue with live firing ? This has stopped after a little incident...

Anyone who knows ?

I was told by some-one who works on base that they should stay 6 weeks (that was at the beginning of the deployment).

He also mentioned that there are still +/- 10 F-4Fs at Deci and they will return this or next week.

Besides, this week is the last week of holiday season at Witmund, so might expect bit more phantoms flying from next week on.

Oz

Today was a nice day with at Wittmund

F18 J5232, 5004,5014, 5026, 5005 flying
4 skyhawks and a lot of phantoms. The Swiss started to fly at 8 am with the next mission at 12.

Also the swiss beech came in and a tornado made an o/s.

But I lost my pocket GPS Garmin Nuvi somewhere in the grass, near the fence where the a/c enter the runway. The GPS is covered in a black suedelook case. If someone finds it please send me a pm. Thanks

I have been searching for it also but could not find it. I remember that someone wrote anything on the flugzeugforum but also this threat is gone?

If someone knows an exect location / streetname , it's more than welcome!

At the BlücherKaserne (Skagerrakstr. 10, 26603 Aurich). In Aurich coming from Wittmund you see a sign pointing to the Kaserne(to the left), it is roughly located in Northeast part of the town.
At this Kaserne there is also an old JBG38 Tornado in special markings and a F104 on a pole (last one visible in Google maps).

Looking at the last log, we can judge they are still on base !
And should remain so until the 28th of august.
