Is the open house open for us spotters or only for family and friends of base personnel?

Will we be able to get on base or would pictures be only available from off base?

What are the flying times?

Thanks for any help and information!! See you guys on Friday!

See my post elsewhere about open day. Base will be open to all. Spotters, friends, families, strangers, etc. Cheers, Don

Nice! Since everybody is threatening to stay at home because they are not 100% sure if all their private/individual wishes are attended to, we will have plenty of room the capture the dogs on Saturday! ;-)

:fadein: Dog handlers, spotters handlers, when reading some of the post here I begin to wonder if the EDA sees much difference between the two groups. Both bark, but do spotters bite :?:

"everybody"?? You've checked with all 1600 spotters that have signed up? "threatening"?? I'd be a little more careful with such choice of words. Please don't respond. Don

I will respond. I conclude that you have unfortunately completely misinterpreted my remark (which was indirectly a 'thumbs up' for the work that you are doing). I will try to explain to you in person this Friday.

Hi guys!! Greetings from Zaragoza.
Dont worry about the weather on Friday. It will be completely sunny, but maybe a little bit windy...as usual here in Zaragoza. The wind direction seems that will be as always too, so, seeing the spotters position in the Tiger drawing, planes will Take off from our right and will land from our right also. The light will not be good for the morning wave but it should be nice for the afternoon one.

There is a good spotting área near the civilian airport...it is good if planes use the runway 30R.
If they use 30L it is going to be difficult to Take pictures from base outside

Today we were lucky and planes were using this runway (30R) during the afternoon landing, even when they were breaking formation to the left, which usually means that they use the 30L. On Tuesday planes were using 30L, so I'm not sure which one they will use tomorrow Thursday (Not sure if there was any cleaning work this afternoon in the 30L runway).

Anyway, on Friday they will have to use the 30L and we will be INSIDE the base.

Dailyes Timetables for taking offs and landings are being these days more or less the same that the ones published in the Tiger Meet webpage (in the instructions for Friday)

During Friday spotters day the base access will be only given to the registered people (Tiger meet website) but, as it has been written in some posts before, for Saturday Open doors day the access will be free, so anybody will be able to go inside the base.

For all of you who dont know the airbase; there are two gates and for both days access you will need to go to the South gate (see attcahed image) https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/474 ... 20gate.JPG

And here you can find some info for the Saturday event (sorry, in Spanish)
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/474 ... %20day.jpg
So, during Saturday we will see flying; a Spanish F18, a Spanish Eurofighter, a Belgian F16, the Spanish helicopter acrobatic team and the Spanish air force acrobatic team (Patrulla Aguila, the best team in the world...maybe :D ). It seems that there will be a static exhibition of Tiger meet aircrafts...I only can guess (and hope) that this representation will be composed of the special decored planes.

Thanks Fox for that link. I'm down here in and among the Spanish authorities dealing day and night with NTM programs and issues, and this is the first I've seen of an airshow schedule. The thing is as simple as this, the NTM is the responsibility of the 15th Wing and the airshow is being run by the Base Command. Even though on the same base, they are distinct and separate functions. AND, recalling some posts over some years, we Tigers don't really care too much about airshows/schedules. We have a formal dinner on friday night that will go until the wee hours and those who have static display duties will be the first of the tigers to straggle in mid-morning.

Anyway, I hope this might explain the lack of info from us available on this forum. Cheers, Don

Hi there again

I have a question that probably any tiger member would be able to answer; how is each squadron financing the special painting schemes? I mean, is all paid by each country defence budget or each squadron has a kind of "private" money pocket which is financed with airshows participations for example?

Regards,
