F-35, off to Phase 2 and another 27 airplanes for Italy
28.11.2019

As announced by Defense Minister Guerini, Italy has given the go-ahead for Phase 2 of the F-35 program. Phase 2 is associated with multi-year production and includes for Italy the acquisition of another 27 aircraft (21 F-35A and 6 F-35B) which will be added to the 28 already ordered units. In the coming days the acquisition of the so-called long lead items of the first aircraft of this additional lot of 27 F-35 should start, with a first contribution of 32 million euro. Moreover, Phase 2 is important because in addition to guaranteeing the expansion of activities in the Cameri plant it makes it more attractive for those countries that may be interested in producing their own F-35s there.

Correct, and 18-5337 is marked 'VT' on the tail for Burlington ANG.

A few F-35A were added to LRIP-11 in a later stage, I think (actually I am sure) 18-5336-40 are the ones. Lot-12 (not LRIP-12 but lot 12 or MY-1 since we are now entering full production) should start with AF-232

Not really, AF-227 is 18-5336, here look for yourself..

AF-228 as mentioned before is 18-5337, and the rest 3 USAF LRIP-11 additional F-35A's should be like that:
AF-229 is 18-5338
AF-230 is 18-5339
AF-231 is 18-5340
