3rd CAB helicopters outbound Europe

Post by Antilliaan »

This topic is aimed to get a picture of 3rd CAB moving out of Europe, which airfields are used to refuel and which embarkation ports are being used for the move back to Georgia (USA):
Please post your logs and ADSB-sightings here for all to follow to get the picture right.

The following UH/HH-60M helicopters have left Constanta (Romania) from 09:00AM local time, source ADS-B:
11-20365 stopped at Baneasa - continues North
11-20389 stopped at Baneasa - continues North
xx-21016 stopped at Baneasa - continues North
11-20331 to the North - West
xx-20357 to the North - West
11-20358 to the North - West
11-20417 to the North - West
12-20450 to the North
12-20457 to the North - West

I fully agree on a topic like this. But in this case they all fly LRCK/ Constanta > LRBS/ Baneasa > LRSB/ Sibiu and back again to either LRCK direct, or via Baneasa.
So this doesn't seem to be the first part of the return yet.
I would expect all the Constanta helipopters to fly back to Volos/ Greece for embarkation over there.
One error, 11-20331 is showing incorrect on ADSB, this must be 11-20360 (also shown in the callsign box, and fit's in great with the other hexcodes)

AK01, thanks very much!

We will probably see some more "false positives" in the topic over the next few weeks.
It would be excellent if we can weed them out from the mainstream going back to CONUS, which helps to keep the picture clear.

So please do not be discouraged to post what you see!

Indeed, better some false hits than big surprises :-)
Of course they can be participating in an exercise, doing a cross-country sortie, whatever.

Three are now airbourne from Sibiu, heading NW in the direction of Hungary at 10.000ft.

Flightplan Romatsa has now also changed the destinations for at least 7 of them to Papa. So good news!

A little bird whispered to me, that 77 3CAB helicopters are expected at Eindhoven.

Edit: the bird was lying... only 28 via Eindhoven.

3rd CAB is also clear on their facebook page:

Marne Air is on the move!

This week, our helicopters located in Romania and Poland will be flying to Illesheim, Germany as the first leg of their journey from the fort to the port! From there, they’ll be moving to the Netherlands to conduct port operations in order to be shipped back to the United States.

Only 37 arrived at Zeebrugge last year. Did the rest disembark elsewhere?

Yes, that is correct, in Volos (Greece) 38 were unloaded, and some may have arrived by air (C-5).

I have been able to id the following 17 as arrivals in Volos last October, so another 21 to go. Guess mainly AH64's and CH47's which don't seem to use mode-s, or don't have it?
Any additions welcome.

they do not seem to be heading for Papa (Hungary) but heading north. They may avoid crossing Austria as a non-NATO member.

These four seem to refuel at Debrecen International Airport in Hungary.
