Schleswig-Jagel (ETNS) 2025

Post by Herby »

For the „Tag der Bundeswehr 2025“ on June 28th the usual amount of 20 aircrafts and helicopters for static and flying display is awaited.

The last six years of Tornado (and regular fighter) operations from here had begun. In the next weeks the first few aircrafts will leave the fleet, 44+69 in Air Defender colours should be one of the first.

Some TLG 51 Tornados will fly to the USA in March to perform live firing of a newer mark of the HARM missile. The detachment is headed by Manching‘s WTD 61 and also include some of their pilots.

The identified Eurofighters of the most likely largest weather diversion in Germany since decades are:

TLwG 71:
30+06 and 30+57 both QRA and 30+56 and 30+59 (GT)

TLwG 73:
30+02 (GT), 30+50, 30+64, 30+79, 31+14 and 31+26 (GT)

Eight Eurofighters are parked on the Z-Line, the QRA is inside two HAS.

TLwG 51 departed on 10.03. with Tornados ECR 46+25, 46+28, 46+38 (special paint) and 46+50 to NAWS China Lake. They will be used for some missile testing on behalf of WTD 61 and also with some WTD 61 crews.
The formation was refueled by LTG 62 A400M west of Scotland and en route by some MMU A332-243MRTT.

It was planned to retire the first few of the current 93 aircraft strong Tornado fleet this year. If this will happen has to be seen, but the withdrawal date obviously has been postponed to 2031 (for TLwG 51) and even 2032 (for TLwG 33).
