From 25 till 29 April 2018, Berlin hosted the bi-annual ILA. Over 1,000 exhibitors showcased their expertise. Besides over four different conferences there was also a daily flight display.

One of the show’s highlights was definitely the Antonov An-225 Mriya. Antonov’s presence might be related to the companies willingness to increase its involvement the NATO Strategic Airlift International Solution programme when Volga-Dnepr ceases rendering of its services for NATO as of January 2019. Many aviation enthousiasts would welcome the Mriya at their local airport operating a flight for NATO.

Airbus was at the event with the Beluga parked alongside the A380. Possible replacements for the German Tornado also had a spot like the F-35. Disappointing for many people, the F-35 was not flying during the show unlike the Tornados and Eurofighters that were.

The Kawasaki P-1 was another highlight. A rare sight on any European air show the aircraft performed an impressive dynamic display. Also attending the show were several vintage aircraft, with the Il-2 Sturmovik most probably being the highlight.
