Is the taxiway spot near the deactivated civil terminal still available for photography?

TIA,
Erik

Yes it is. Last time we were send away by the Police. According to them it is military terrain. In the landing we did not have any problems.

The old terminal is indeed marked nowadays as military property and as such "out of bounds", gate however hardly seems to get closed as they were even doing some bus driving lessons on the former parking area (March 13.)

Got sent away by some local workers who were working at th eol dterminal and who were pointing at the signs and made a big fuzz about us being there, but no MP, no local cops, nothing that actually had the proper authority to send us away.

(by the way, it was a long trip that day to only see a few F-1's and not to mention the BAF SF-260 MT48 that made one landing, turned around and took off again)

Rather SF260 ST-48 I think...
Thanks Ruud. Was that a day trip from NL to Reims? Long drive indeed!
Happened to look at the west side, near the gate(s) or final 07?

Slip of the finger, was indeed the ST-48 (wishfull thinking?? )...
We drove around the entire field, but take off and landings were from the East, so assume that's the 07..

Yes, it was a one day trip, Hoofddorp - Brussels - Cambrai - Reims Champagne - Reims Prunay and back the same way....

We have only seen 7 F1CR's flying and the SF260D plus 1 C130 very high pass. Cambrai was rather quite also..

Spent last Thursday 27mar08 there, in weather improving from pooring rain to faint sunshine ;) Will update the airfield guide soon, but basically all has been described above. Not much to see near the gates and the road there is not a through-one anymore. Did not bother to look for trouble near the terminal so spent nearly all day on final 25. These flew between 11.30 and 17.10 when I really had to leave:
605/33-CO Mirage F1CR ER01.033 EALA9/72
632/33-CQ Mirage F1CR ER01.033 SAL33
635/33-NP Mirage F1CR ER02.033 SPA53
638/33-CD Mirage F1CR ER01.003 BR244
641/33-NI Mirage F1CR ER02.033 SPA53
643/33-CE Mirage F1CR ER01.003 SAL33
657/33-NA Mirage F1CR ER02.033 SAL6
658/33-CL Mirage F1CR ER01.003 EALA9/72
660/33-CY Mirage F1CR ER01.033 SAL33
661/33-NK Mirage F1CR ER02.033 BR11

The Esc logos (last column) are those of one side only.

May 7th - After 2 days at Colmar I spent a morning at the other French Mirage F1 hotspot. They used runway 07 so I placed myself on the dirtroad at the end of the runway which is good for both take off and taxiing shots (fortunately, most of the Mirages taxied till the end). The base gendarmerie found me quick, I gave them a copy of my passport with my home address, occupation etc. and that certainly broke the ice. They told me that there would be no flying the next day because of a public holiday and left.

Mirage F1CR ER01.033:

Mirage F1CR ER02.033:

SF260D 5 Smaldeel: ST-43
