Hi...

We had a Wittmund basevisit yesterday with Koninklijke Vereniging "Onze Luchtmacht".
A great disappointment, not only because there was no flying, due to the "Ash Cloud" from Iceland and the fact that ALL German F-4's are grounded, due to a ejection seat problem, discovered during a routine control last week, but we also were not allowed to use our photo equipment.
So the only thing we had was an old movie about JG71, explanation of a debriefing, a lunch and a visit to a hangar with two F-4's.
The people that organised the trip are not to blame fot this disappointment because they can't help the Ash Cloud and we were already on base when we were told that it was not allowed to take pictures.
Furthermore, ALL Turkish F-16's and French Mirage 2000's were placed in closed shelters and not visible.

Too bad, it's been a long day for almost nothing...

Grtz.

I had the same problem last friday  base vistit, no flying and locked up aircraft.
But at least I was lucky to have the possibility to enter the TUAF shelters and warmed up one of the F-16´s ejection seats.
