Forum rules
This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |

Re: LFQI Cambrai 10-02-2012
I didn't saw the gendarmerie, luckily.
Base security had asked me twice what I was doing there. ONce in the morning and once in the afternoon.
The ones from the morning didn't had real problems about me being there.
The ones in the afternoon asked me friendly to leave the spot where I was. But I was more related that I had parked my car to close to the fence then taking pictures.
But by then all Mirages were already on base.

Nice indeed. It looked like on-base pictures until I read your story about security.
They look a bit too pale for my taste though.

Compromise is failure.

Pic 2 has an M2000 deploying a chute. Have i been asleep for the last 20 years - I've NEVER seen a M2000 with a chute???

Re: LFQI Cambrai 10-02-2012
That's correct; you don't normally see it as they don't normally use it. In this case, it might have been because of a hydraulic or electrical problem: in all pics of 103-YE taken this day you can see the main landing gear doors and the large nose wheel door hanging down; that is not their correct position with the engine running, as they are normally raised automatically when the power is "on" and/or when the gear is fully down&locked... (as can be seen in the pics of the other "deux milles" )tomcat604 wrote:Pic 2 has an M2000 deploying a chute. Have i been asleep for the last 20 years - I've NEVER seen a M2000 with a chute???

Re: LFQI Cambrai 10-02-2012
Thanks for that info Frank. It seems to me that the housing for the chute is/was at the base of the vertical stabilizer - where the ECM/Chaff stuff is now. When did it move to the belly? Or was it always on the belly?
Thanks
