regarding the picture, I would say destroyed rather than damaged.

Lots of "news outlets" use stock images
or photos of past events,
"just to show a picture".

Like police reports in the (Dutch) media.

If there is no imagery of the real event available,
there is always a "stock picture"
of a police car -or blue police light...
