USA Legacy F15 640Boeing completes legacy Eagles upgrades

At the beginning of October 2025, Boeing announced that its modernisation team at the Louisiana Air National Guard base in New Orleans recently completed the final F-15C Advanced Display Core Processor (ADCP) II and Multi-Function Information Distribution System/ Joint Tactical Radio System (MIDS-JTRS) upgrades.

Boeing’s Government Services team has finished upgrades for 37 USAF legacy F-15C Eagle jets. The F-15Cs have undergone critical subsystem changes to computing and communications. For now, the system modifications are crucial for the aging Eagle aircraft to maintain readiness and being relevant well into the 2030s.

This latest Boeing milestone marks the end of a four-year programme to enhance combat capability and secure communications for the legacy Eagles. The installation process, which took approximately 62 days per aircraft, was carried out by some 30 Boeing employees. Strikingly, multiple former Kadena (Japan) based ZZ coded Eagles were noted.

Scramble Magazine reported earlier that these ZZ coded legacy Eagles were expected to be withdrawn from use and eventually find their way to the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Group, also known as the "Boneyard", situated near Tucson (AZ).
