F-16 operations at Leeuwarden in the twilight

The end of F-16AM/BM Fighting Falcon operations at Leeuwarden air base (the Netherlands) are near. For this occasion Koninklijke Luchtmacht (KLu, Royal Netherlands Air Force) F-16AM J-871 0f 322 squadron was painted with special Frisian Dragon tail colours.

After 42 years of F-16 operations at Leeuwarden it is expected that the last F-16s will fly to Volkel air base (the Netherlands) on 1 July 2021. While receiving the tenth F-35A Lightning II, 322 squadron is the last squadron to operate the F-16 from Leeuwarden. Dutch F-16s will continue to operate until mid-2024 from Volkel.
