On 17 October 2025, USAF Global Strike Command deployed four B-1B Lancer bombers to Misawa Air Base (Japan).

Strikingly, this latest Bomber Task Force (BTF) deployment, making up the 9th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron "Bats", normally based with the 7th Bomb Wing at Dyess AFB (TX), repeats itself.

On 21 April 2025, Scramble Magazine first wrote about the Bats Lancers conveniently deployed to Misawa for the first time. Flying the Rockwell B-1B Lancer for 32 years already, the 9th Bomb Squadron started to operate them since 1 October 1993 from Dyess.

The following 9th Bomb Squadron DY coded B-1Bs are now present at Misawa: 85-0064, 86-0097 (as flagship "9th BS/CC"), 86-0125 and 28th Bomb Squadron's 86-0119 (on loan).
