Last flight Austrian Saab J105OË

Scramble Magazine already mentioned the military ceremony "50 years of Saab J105OË & Fly out", which took place on Friday 11 December 2020 and the special Saab J105OË "Golden Tiger".

On 31 December 2020 the inevitable took place with the very last operational flight of the Österreichische Luftstreitkräfte (Austrian Air Force) Saab J105OË. In gorgeous weather, Saab J105OË 1140/BJ-40 (c/n 105-440) and 1129/RI-29 (c/n 105-429) took off from Fliegerhorst ‘Vogler’ at Hörsching near Linz.

After one hour they landed for the very last time and were greeted by a traditional water salute by the airport fire service. Another era has gone leaving only memories.

If you want to see operational Saab 105s, you have to go to Linköping/Malmen (Sweden), where the FlygSkolan (FlygS, Flying School) still have thirty Sk60A and Sk60B jet trainers operational. Next to the FlygS, the Swedish Air Force Historic Flight operates one Sk60E MT, registration 60140/SE-DXG.
