Latest KLu Lightning II delivery
On 12 January 2022, two Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II fighters were delivered to the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (KLu, Royal Netherlands Air Force) at Leeuwarden air base.
The two fighters, serials F-023 (c/n AN-23 and FMS 19-5526) and F-024 (c/n AN-24 and FMS 19-5527), were delivered from the Final Assembly and Check-Out (FACO) line in Cameri (Italy).
It has been confirmed by the KLu that F-024 is the first F-35A for Volkel air base and will be operated by 313 Squadron.
F-023 is the last F-35A for 322 Squadron, which now has fifteen Lightning IIs in its inventory. On 27 December 2021, 322 Squadron attained Initial Operational Capability (IOC).
The first F-35As will be transferred to Volkel air base mid 2022. On its way from Cameri, F-024 performed an overshoot at Volkel.
