Iceland CG H225 640New Icelandic Coast Guard H225

On 4 May 2021 at around 19:00 hrs (LT), the Landhelgisgæsla Íslands (ICG, Icelandic Coast Guard) newest rescue helicopter landed at Reykjavík Airport.

The ferry flight of the H225 Super Puma, registration TF-GNA (construction number 2918), started on the previous day in Stavanger/Sola (Norway). The helicopter made stops at the Shetland Islands (UK), the Faroe Islands (Denmark) and Egilsstaðir (Iceland) before it finally arrived at its home base in Reykjavík.

The registration TF-GNA refers to Gná, the Goddess-messenger in northern mythology. She can make her way through the fire and through the air, above the earth and the sea, personifying a light wind.

The ICG has now returned to three available rescuse helicopters. All three H255s were modified by Heli-One at Stavanger/Sola (Norway) and are leased from Knut Axel Ugland Holding. The other two, TF-EIR (c/n 2750) and TF-GRO (c/n 2755), were delivered in March and July 2019.

The registrations of the H225s have been used before by the ICG:
