Hot news from Russia

From reliable sources, Scramble has obtained information that the Russian Federation - Aerospace Forces (RF VKS) decided on the modernization of some of its inventory.

The 21st Composite Aviation Division of the Central Military District, based at Perm/Bolshoye Savino (Sokol) is one of the first.

The 21st CAD is currently flying the MiG-31B/D3/BM, and will switch to the Sukhoi Su-34M and MiG-31BM. The transition will gradually take place, but is expected to be completed by 2024.

These MiG-31BMs can be armed with the 2000 km range Kh-47M2 Kinzhal ALBM (air-launched ballistic missile)

The 2nd Frontal Bomber Aviation Regiment , based at Chelyabinsk-Shagol, will see a transition from their faithful Sukhoi Su-24M to the Sukhoi-34. Initially only the reconnaissance unit (flying the Su-24MR) will switch to the Su-34M, later on the other two units of the regiment will change their Su-24s for Su-34Ms.

Finally a decision was made that the 712th Fighter Aviation Regiment, based at Kansk-Yuzhiny, will be fully equipped with the MiG-31BM.
