On 25 January 2022, the US State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale (FMS) to the Government of Egypt of twelve Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 Super Hercules Aircraft and related equipment for an estimated cost of USD2,2 billion.

Next to self defence systems as Missile Warning Systems (MWS), AN/ALE-47 Countermeasures Dispensing System (CMDS) and AN/ALR-56M Radar Warning Receiver (RWR), the request also includes necessary spares, personnel training and training equipment, and contractor engineering, technical, and logistics support services.

The Al Quwwat Al Jawwiya Il Misriya (EGAF, Egypt Air Force) currently operates around 20+ C-130H and C-130H-30 Hercules transporters. One of the C-130Hs has been delivered as a VC-130H. The transporters are operated by 4 Squadron and 16 Squadron at Cairo International Airport. The first aircraft were delivered in 1976. In September 2004, the EGAF bought three C-130Hs from the Royal Danish Air Force (RDAF). Four aircraft have been written off in accidents.
