Unfortunate USMC Viper

On 6 January 2022, a United States Marines Corps Bell AH-1Z Viper, operated by Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron (HMLA) 773 Red Dogs Detachment B, sustained substantial damage after crashing in a field near McGuire Field (Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst) Airport (NJ).

Local fire departments as well as Airport Rescue Firefighters from the US Air Force responded to the area of 500 Block of East Main Street in Wrightstown for what appeared to be a hard landing.

East Main was closed from Fort Dix Street-Sykesville Road to McGuire Boulevard.

The two occupants received unspecified injuries.
