The first two A-29Bs for the Fuerza Aérea Uruguaya (FAU, Uruguay Air Force) departed EMBRAER's Gavião Peixoto facility on 17 February 2026 for delivery to Uruguay, where they are scheduled to arrive on the 18th.
These two turboprop light attack and counter-insurgency aircraft are part of an order for six, to be registered 250 through 255. The first pair are using temporary registrations PT-BOS (c/n 31400289) and PT-CUM (c/n 31400295) and are believed to be assigned serials 250 and 251, respectively.
The A-29Bs will equip EA2C (Escuadrón Aéreo N°2 Caza, 2nd Fighter Squadron) at Base Aérea Teniente 2° Mario W. Parallada, Durazno, replacing the OA/A-37B Dragonfly.
Further acquisitions will include four Airbus H145M twin-engine light utility helicopters to replace the venerable UH-1H Iroquois of EA5H (Escuadrón Aéreo N°5 Helicópteros, 5th Helicopter Squadron). The new helicopters have been under negotiation since October 2025 in a deal that initially included bartering the two remaining AS365N2s and acquiring six second-hand French Sécurité Civile EC145s. These talks now appear to have resulted in an order for four new H145Ms instead.
