USMC Legacy Hornet mishap

The United States Marines Corps' VMFA-533 Hawks (part of MAG-31, or Marine Air Group) Legacy Hornet crashed on take-off from MCAS Beaufort-County Airport (SC), on 3 March. Both people onboard ejected safely.

It actually came down on former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford’s family property in Beaufort County, on Coosaw Plantation near Halfmoon Island, said the former governor’s sister.

Halfmoon Island is in the northern part of Beaufort County, near Marine Corps Air Station Beaufort and multiple unincorporated communities like Dale, Lobeco and Seabrook.
