Ålborg, also known as Aalborg, is mainly the home of the transport fleet of the Danish Air Force. Until 2005 F-16s operated from this base, resulting in many shelters, most of which are vacated now. The transport fleet can be found at the north west part of the air base. Next to Esk721, the transport squadron, Aalborg also hosts an detachment of Helicopter squadron Esk722 flying with the EH101 Merlin. In 2016 the MQ-9B is expected to start flying with Esk 729 from this base.
The main activities during daytime can be found at the civilian south-east corner adjacent to the old air force maintenance area.
Note that Ålborg is pronounced as Olbog. This may be useful when asking for directions!
From the E45, take exit 21 Norresundy-N and follow the directions to Lindhol. The airport should be signposted here already. Follow the Forbindelsesvejen which takes you right to the civil terminal
The C-130Js can be seen regularly at spot 3. Eric Frikke
