Landstuhl last was home to a Company with 15 UH-60As, designated C company 1-214th AVN (formerly 236th MedCo). This was not a place to hang around all day (there was no need and security would not let you) but it was a nice add-on for a visit to Ramstein air base. Do not confuse this location with the helispot of the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, 1 mile (1.6km) to the east.
Landstuhl was closed as a heliport in 2014, the Army unit moved to Grafenwöhr.
This very compact base is part of a larger military hospital area. It features a simple layout, a ramp with helipads, a manoeuvring area and a couple of small hangars on the southwest side.
When driving from Ramstein Air Base into Landstuhl village (using the L395) go past the railway bridge and turn right at the trafic lights. After the roundabout go past the Autobahnbridge (A62) and turn left. Do not enter the Autobahn but continue the road uphill (road number L470), and after a few kilometers you will see the base on your left.
