Mid 2012 H-6Ks started to replace the H-6H that went to 29th Reg.
In 2012 the 10th Division became the second unit to operate the modernised H-6K. With this long-range bomber operational rendez-vous with RoCAF fighters in the Taiwanese ADIZ zoneare becoming more frequent.
Early 2008 the 1st Regiment changed J-11 (serial 11x2x) for J11B. The J-11s went to 29th Div. The years before the J-11, the unit had operated F-8F, F-8B and J-7II.
In 2017 the 1st Regiment (serials 10x2x since 2012) turned into the 1st Brigade using a new serial batch.
By February 2020 J-20s started to replace the J-11/Su-27s, and the unit became formally operational with J-20 on 18 June 2021, although the J-11s remained operational for a while.
The 1st Brigade is one of the many units flying the J-11B, most of which by now have seen upgrdes to the J-11BG version.

October 1969 102 Regiment was established at Shahe airport. November 1969 it relocated to Nan Yuan after 13 School (former 1st Vocational College util october 1968) had vacated the air base.
Until 2005 CUA used to be part of 34th Division.
October 2019 the Nan Yuan was officially closed and most of the 102nd Regiment moved to the new airport Daxing (Nanjiao), with the Tu-154s initially remaining at Nan Yuan.
At Nanjiao (Daxing) two B737-800 aircraft are used in the Command, Control, Communication and Intelligence role (C3I).
In 2019 the civilian operations from Nan Yuan were transferred to the new Beijing Daxing airport. Military flights are believed to be transferred to the adjacent facility at Nanjiao air base.
At Nan Yuan four modified Tu-154M/D's could be found that are used for ECM operations. It can be expected that the aircraft will move to Nanjiao (Daxing) in the near future.
34th Division with 100th and 101st Regiment was established on 28 August 1963 It is believed that in 2017 the 101st Regiment (Y-7 with serials B-6x1x), 202nd Regiment (Z-8K, Z-9 with 6x1x) and 203rd Regiment Regiment (Y-5 with 6x2x) all of 34th Division were reorganized into a Transportation and SAR Brigade (serials 55x1x). In 2020 two Y-9s were obtained from the Army.
Six Puma's were delivered to Shahezhent that were added by six EC225LPs in 2011.

1 July 2013 saw the first flight of the new, dedicated fighter trainer JL-10. It is believed that the Flight Instructors training regiment at Bengbu was the first operational unit to operate the JL-10.
In 2010 J-7IIs were replaced by J-7Gs earlier operated by Ba Yi demonstration team.
In 2012 this 7th Div/20th Reg (serials 1xx8x) was reorganized into 15th Division as 44th Regiment.
In 2017 the 44th Regiment (serials 20x6x) turned into 44th Brigade using a new serial batch. By 2022 J-7 operations seem to have stopped.

1 April 1987 11th Aviation School at Yanliang was reformed into FTTC/2nd Reg and moved to Cangzhou (serials 60x8x). In 2012 FTTC/2nd Reg was converted into a Brigade (171st).
Late 2008 FTTC received at least 5 JL-9s. Around 2013 the J-8 was wfu.
In 2021 the first J-10s were noted . It is believed that the J-7E, JJ-7A and JL-9 within 171st Brigade were wfu (long) before 2021. In 2012 FTTC/3rd Reg (serials 61x8x) was converted into 172nd Brigade.
In 2017 the JL-10 was added to the Brigade.
In 2017/2018 J-16s were introduced within 172nd Brigade, followed by J-20s in February 2018. Aircraft of the 177th Brigade were first noted in March 2016, although it is believed that the unit operated from 2014 acting as opposing (Blue) Air Force. For this the unit is also known as 66th OPFOR Brigade "The imaginary enemy of the Chinese Airforce"
In 2023 the first J-16s were noted, indicating the end of J-11B operations.
At Cangzhou the FTTB was the first unit to operate the J-20A

In 2004 7th FA/3rd (serials 7xx7x) got subordinated to 3rd FA as 3rd FA/1st Reg (serials 7xx3x).
April 2012 3rd FA/1st Reg got subordinated to the Flight Instructor Training Base after which the JL-8s were augmented by CJ-6A and JJ-7A.
The training regiment is also used to train pilots from foreign air forces.
The major 2012 reorganization was preluded a few years earlier by a concentration of CJ-6 Regiments in 7th Flying Academy and JL-8 Regiments in 3rd Flying Academy (effectively swapping two regiments).
The 3rd Div JL-8 at Changchun-Dafangshen in 2011 used to fly under 7th Flying Academy command.
Since 2012 it flies with a 4x5x serial as could be observed in the annual local airshow.

The location of the team has to be confirmed. April 2012 the 7th FA/2nd Reg (serials 7xx7x) got subordinated to the Flight Basic Training Base.

The 37th Div/109th used J-5 and later J-6 until 2002 when J-8Hs arrived. These were asupplemented by J-8F in 2006.
In 2012 the Regiment (serials 4xx8x) turned into a Brigade subordinate to Ürümqi Base.
In 2020 J-11Bs were noted within the Brigade indicating the end of the J-8F/H and JJ-7A operation.
The J-10s were delivered early 2006 and replaced J-7II.
June 2017 the 8th Regiment (serials 10x4x) turned into the 8th Brigade subordinate to Shanghai Base using a new serial batch.
Mid 2022 saw the J-20 starting to replace the J-10As.

By 2019 the Y-9 started replacing the few Y-7s within the 11th Regiment. When the 12th Regiment at Dalian converted to transport duties fighter operations went to 90th Regiment.
While reconstruction of Qionglai took place 2009-2012, aircraft were rebased to Chengdu-Taipingsi and Leizhuang.
6 July 2016 the 12th Regiment became the first operational user of the Y-20A transport plane, starting a gradual replacement of the Y-8Cs. The Y-5, Y-7 and Mi-171s were then moved to the new 5th Transport and SAR regiment.
Around 2017 the small transport aircraft flying with 12th Regiment (serial range 11x5x) were transferred to the new 5th Transportation and SAR Brigade with new serials.
Early 2023 Z-20s were noted with the Brigade, however at a yet unknown base.

In February 2012 J10 aircraft started replacing J-7D, which were transfered to 90th Regiment in November 2011.
In 2017 the 43rd Regiment (serials 2xx6x) turned into the 43rd Brigade using a new serial batch.

In 1982 the 106th Regiment of the 39th Division flying Tu-4 converted from a bomber role to a reconnaissance role but reverted to the bomber role when early production H-6s arrived until about 2004 when the unit disbanded. 106th Regiment was reactivated again in 2010 for the nuclear bomber role for which it received the H-6N late 2019.

Until 2012 the 175th Brigade was known as Flight Test Regiment (serials 6xx9x). Before that this unit was known as Special Mission Testing Unit (SMTU), with serials 3xx7 before 2005.

Dingxin Air Base is the major test facility for the development of advanced tactics and techniques required for effective modern offensive and defensive air combat.
Yearly full Regiments come here on detachment for combat training.
At Dingxin many J-6s were converted to drone.
In 2016 the unit started operations with J-10C, J-16 and J-20 aircraft almost simultaneously.
April 2012 9th Div/27th Reg (J-8DH/J-8DF with serials 2xx0x) became subordinated to 2nd Div as 4th Regiment.
In 2017 J-11s from 6th Brigade replaced the J-8s that went to 78th Regiment.
In 2017 the 4th Regiment (serials 10x3x) turned into 4th Brigade subordinate to Nanning Base using a new serial batch (serials 61x5x).

The J-8B were taken from 1st Div/3rd Reg in 2003 replacing J-6 aircraft.
The regiment flying J-8B/JJ-7A turned into a Brigade subordinate to Jinan Base in 2017. However, the aircraft were withdrawn from use the same time.
At Guangzhou/East the MRAF HQ is based. It is understood the serial range (6x5x) changed in 2012.
In 2017 the regiment changed into a Transport Brigade
By November 2015 the J-10A was replaced by the J-10B.
Mid 2017 the 5th Regiment (serials 10x3x) turned into 5th Brigade subordinated to Nanning Base using a new serial batch.
October 2018 it was suggested J-10C's had joined the Brigade.
December 2021 J-20As started to replace the J-10s.
In 2012 10th Div/30th Reg (serials 2xx1x) moved from Dajiaochang to Guiyang/Leizhuang and became 20th Div.
Originally 20 Div. was a bomber division (Il-2/Il-28/H-5) between 15 September 1951 until 30 September 1992.
For psychological operations 20th Division uses Y-8XZ ('New High 7') aircraft that are optimised to broadcast radio and tv signals in non-friendly environments. Before 2012 the Regiment was subordinated to 10th Division.

The ELINT version of the Y-8, the Y-8G or New High 3 is used by two Regiments, including the 58th.
the 5th FA/2nd Reg (serials 6xx5x and later 7xx5x) flew with JJ-5 until the JL-8 took over in 2009. In April 2012 the 5th FA/2nd Reg (serials 7xx5x) flying with JL-8 was subordinated to Xi'an FA.
In 2017 the unit was converted to J-7II/JJ-7A, with the last MiG-21 derivative ever build (JJ-7A) being delivered to this unit in 2017.
In 2018 the JL-9 became operational within the unit replacing J-7II and JJ-7A, which remained stored on the airfield.

In 2017 the 83rd Regiment (serials 30x9x) turned into the 83rd Brigade subordinated to Shanghai Base using a new serial batch.
March 2021 J-16s were noted at Hangzhou, suggesting that the 83rd Brigade had upgraded to this aircraft.
The JH-7A has replaced many Q-5s in the ground attack role.
In April 2012 the 1st FA/3rd Reg (serials 7xx1x) was subordinated to Harbin FA.
The Y-7s replaced HJ-5s flying with 1st FA/3rd Reg (pre 2005 serials 63x1x).
In 2015 former 8th Division H-6As were added.
At Lalin also a CJ-6 and Y-5 maintenance facility is located.
Harbin/Ping Fang Tien (--)

End of 2019 the CJ-6/Y-5 aircraft from Harbin/Wanggang were added to this regiment.
At Wanggang on April 2012 the 1st FA/1st Reg (serials 7xx1x) had merged with 1st FA/2nd Reg and got subordinated to Harbin FA (serials 1x1x). By 2019 the CJ-6s from Wanggang than were repositioned to join the other CJ-6s at Harbin/Shuang Yu Shu.
At the same time, since 2012 no CJ-6 have been reported with this Brigade however.

April 2012 the 1st FA/1st Reg (serials 7xx1x) merged with 1st FA/2nd Reg and got subordinated to Harbin FA (serials 1x1x) flying CJ-6A.
In 2019 all aircraft moved to Harbin/Shuang Yu Shu.
The former 99th Regiment flying from Liancheng was disbanded in 1998.
April 2012 the 2nd Reg of the Beijing MR Training Base (serials 6xx2x) flying J-7II aircraft became 99th Fighter Regiment within 33rd Division and moved from Xishan-Beixiang to Hotan.
The Beijing MR Training Base itself was established on 26 October 1988 when the 17th Division (serials 3xx8x) was reorganized.
In 2017 the 99th Regiment (serials 41x4x) turned into 99th Brigade using a new serial batch. In 2020 J-16s started to replace the J-7IIs leaving the J-7s wfu in this desert air base.

At Huangpi also the former 45th Division of 15th Airborne Army HQ was located.
The Z-9 Regiment officially started operation 3 July 2011.
In April 2012 the 6x9x serials were replaced by 6x6x serials.
6x6x serials were replaced by 6x2x serials after 28 April 2017 when the 15th AA reorganised into Corps of PLA airborne troops. By 2022 the Z-20KA was introduced.
The Corps of PLA airborne troops used a couple of Z-8KA C-SAR helicopters
21 December 2009 the first four J-10As were formally accepted. Before the arrival of the J-10s the Regiment operated J-7H aircraft as 35th Div/103rd Reg (serials 4xx6x) from Shantou Northeast.
In 2017 the 26th Regiment (serials 20x0x) turned into 26th Brigade using a new serial batch.
In April 2020 J-16s were noted for the first time. In 2021 J-10s were still noted operating.
Modern aircraft need protection from everything from above. Also at Huiyang hardened shelters are used.
In 2010 the 2nd Flying Academy/2nd Reg (serials 70x2x) with Z-9s replaced the Navigator Training School (serials 72x9x) with H-5 and HJ-5 operating from this base.
In April 2012 the 2nd FA merged with 5th FA and became Xi'an FA with the 2n FA/2nd Reg becoming the 1st Brigade.
The serials for the Y-7s need confirmation.
In 2017 JJ-7/J-7II aircraft were noted with the 1st Regiment, putting question marks at this Y-7/Z-9 unit number. Indication are that some (all?) Z-9s went to the Northern Theatre Command Transportation Brigade.
The status of the J6s is unclear.
2nd Indep. Regiment (Navy) used to operate from this base. It is not unlikely this Regiment is still operating from this base.
In 2013 a detachment of the 58th Regiment from Guiyang/Leizhuang started using this base for ELINT missions over the East China See.
Jiaxing was used by Q-5s of the 28th Division/84th Regiment (serials 31x9x) until 2011 when the JH-7A started to arrive.
By 2017 the unit continued as 54th Air Brigade subordinated to Shanghai Base with new serial range.
The JH-7A was withdrawn from use by 2022 and reportedly replaced by J-16, although confirmation is still needed.
The Su-27 were received from 9th Regiment.
Mid 2017 the 55th Regiment (serials 30x0x) turned into 55th Brigade using a new serial batch.
It was reported that early 2023 the J-11/Su-27SKs were replaced by J-20

J-10A aircraft replaced J7Es. In 2012 the FTTC/1st Reg (serials 6xx8x) was converted into a Brigade.
In 2015/2016 the J-10A was replaced by J-10B. March 2020 it was revealed that the J-10C had replaced the J-10B.
The 170th Brigade of the FTTB is flying from Jiugucheng with J-10C and J-10S with ultra low-visibility markings.
Until 2006 the 26th Division consisted of fighter Regiments with J-6, J-7 and J-8.
Early 2006 AWACS operations started from Wuxi with 26th Division.
With the expanding AWACS/Command & Control operations, in 2017 the Regiment was split in two regiments (76th/77th), with the 76th Regiment moving to Jiujiang/Lushan in 2019.
Until 2013 14th Division/41st Regiment with J-7Es was based at Jiujiang/Lushan, until it moved to Rugao.
At Jiujiang/Lushan the KJ-500 of the 76th Regiment are based.
The Lanzhou MR Training Base was formed from 47th Div/141st Reg using the 6xx3x serial range.
Although it was believed that by April 2012 the unit got subordinated to 6th Division/17th Regiment, by 2017 the aircraft were flying around for Xi'an Flight Academy with 3x1x serial.
In 2022 the first J-11BS aircraft were noted within the unit, replacing the J-7II/JJ-7A.
By 2017 the Lanzhou MR Training Base had become part of the Xi'an Flight Academy.
Between 2020-2022 Y-20 Y-8C were phased out with the arrival of the Y-20A.
The Y-8C was the backbone of the Chinese transport capability. 13th Division is one of the operators which also uses these aircraft for the Corps of PLA airborne troops.

Early 2020 delivery of Y-20 restarted after some months hold-up, just in time to assist in the COVID-19 virus crisis. For the 13th Division this started the replacement of the Y-8C aircraft.
In 2004 the 7th FA/3rd Reg (serials 7xx7x) was subordinated to the 3rd FA as 3rd FA/2nd Reg (serials 7xx3x).
In April 2012 the 3rd FA/2nd Reg was subordinated to the Aviation University.
In 2016 JL-9s were inducted in the Regiment replacing JL-8.
By mid 2014 Kashi (Kashgar) became the most westerly PLAAF airbase with the arrival of initially UAVs and a few years later a J-11 detachment on this otherwise civilian airport. Early 2020 a H-6 detachment had arrived.
22 April 1989 the 37th Div/111th Reg (serials then 5xx8x, later 4xx8x) moved from Malan to Korla (Bayingol). Early 2011 the J-7E's were replaced by J-11Bs.
In 2012 the Regiment turned into a Brigade subordinate to Urumqi Base. Surprisingly, in 2016 J-11As took over from the J-11Bs.
Early 2022 the unit converted to J-20A.
At Lanzhou/Xiaguanying the MRAF HQ is based (with serials 4xx0 before 2005 and 6x3x after that).
Mid 2017 the Regiment turned into the Transportation and Search and Rescue Brigade using a new serial batch.
In June 2023 the first two Y-9s arrived.
The current 23rd Regiment originates from 143rd Reg. 48th Div/143rd Reg had become an independent Regiment in 1992 and was subordinated to 8th division in July 1999. In 2002 the Regiment number changed into 23rd Reg. The origional 23rd Regiment had been disbanded in August 1985.
By 2021 the 23rd Regiment had changed into a Brigade. Mid 2012 the 24th Regiment started receiving H-6K. Late 2020 the Regiment was the first to receive the improved H-6KG.

The 19th Div/57th Regiment was re-established from Jinan MRTB 2nd Regiment in 2010 with J-11B (serials 3xx0x) after it had been disbanded in 1988.
In 2012 the 19th Div/57th Reg got subordinated to the re-formed 32nd Division as 95th Regiment.
In 2017 the 95th Regiment (serials 40x3x) turned into 95th Brigade using a new serial batch.
During May 2023 it was rumoured tha the unit started using either the J-16 or J-20A, replacing the J-11.
The 4th Division operating J-5 on this base was t-ransformed into a transport Division in 2003.
The base was taken over by 3rd FA/4th Reg (serials 7xx3x) and by the relocated 9th Army Aviation Regiment.
April 2012 the Regiment was subordinated to Harbin FA.
In 2017 the 18th Regiment (flying J-7H/JJ-7A with serials 11x7x) turned into 18th Brigade using a new serial batch.
In March 2021 J-11s from 16th Brigade arrived to replace the J-7 airplanes.
The Shenyang MR Training Base/1st Reg (serials 6xx1x) was formed from 16th Div.
In 2012 the Regiment was subordinated to Dalian Base as 91st Brigade.
By 2021 the J-7s were withdrawn from use.
In April 2012 2nd Div/4th Reg (serials 1xx3x) became a Brigade subordinate to Nanning Base.
At the same time 9th Div/27th Reg (J-8DH) was subordinated to 2nd Div as 4th Regiment.
In 2016 the J-7IIs were replaced by JH-7A.
While still at Luhe/Ma'an air base early 2017 H-6Ms were received from 108th Regiment.
A few Y-5 and Y-7 are used for conversion training.
By 2022 the Regiment moved to the renovated Lu'an air base.
It is believed that February 2022 started to receive H-6N replacing the H-6M.
In 2015 the 29th Regiment relocated from Nanjing/Dajiaochang.
In 2013 H-6As of the 29th Regiment were replaced by H-6H from the 28th Regiment (2xx1x (001-050)). H6Ks started to arrive in 2023.
Early 2016 the J-10Cs replaced the J-10As that went to 130th Regiment.
Mid 2017 the 131st Regiment (serials 50x5x) turned into 131th Brigade subordinate to Nanning Base using a new serial batch. It is suggested that mid 2023 J-20s started to replace the J-10C, but this still needs confirmation.
This former J-6 Air Force base now is now actively used by the Army (73rd LH Brigade) and can be used for halve size fighter Regiments (1 squadron) on deployments.
This airbase is used for mass-storage since 19th Div. left the base on 19 June 1990. South-east of the main base also a J-6 conversion plant is situated.
South of the airbase also Lushan Aviation Exhibition Centre (鲁山 航空展览馆) is located.
Until 1988 the Regiment operated as 16th Division based at Ertaizi (serials 3xx7x), after which it was transformed into Shenyang MR Training Base/2nd Reg (J-7II with serials 6xx1x).
JJ-7A aircraft were declared operational in July 2011.
In April 2012 the Regiment changed into a Brigade, subordinate to Urumqi Base, although it seems that by 2017 the Brigade was no longer operational. The Wing Loon I was first noted at Malan in 2011.

In 1999 the 16th FA was absorbed in the 2nd FA operating HJ-5 from Chengdu/Pengshan.

In 2017 the 77th Regiment (serials 30x7x) turned into the Transportation and Search and Rescue Brigade using a new serial batch.
The Z-20 was added in mid 2023.
Before August 1986 the 42nd Div/125th Reg was flying as 18th Div/53 Reg that had been established in January 1954.
In April 2012 42nd Div/125th Reg turned into a Brigade subordinate to Nanning Base.
The unofficial motto is: "Second class equipment, first class performance".
By 2023 J-7E/JJ-7s were still operational, although suggestions are that they will soon be replaced by J-16.
With ever more new generation fighters around, J-7 aircraft are still widely used, like in Nanning Base.
The 54th Reg received Su-30MKK in 2003 while operating from Changsha AB. Due to its serial allocation (20x9x) it had been widely believed this to be the 53rd Regiment.
At/before 2017 the 54th Regiment turned into the 54th Brigade using a new serial batch (66x5x).
In 2023 the Brigade relocated from Changsha to its new air base near Ningxiang.
When 4th Division (serials 1xx5x) became a transport unit in 2003, this 10th regiment was subordinated to 30th Div as 30th Div/89th Reg (serials 4xx1x).
In 2009 30th Div/89th Reg moved from Dalian-Zhoushuizi to Pulandian.
In 2010 J-7Es were replaced by J-11 with J-7Es moving to 30th Div/88th Reg.
In April 2012 30th Div/89th Reg was converted in a Brigade subordinated to Dalian Base.
By 2016 27th Regiment (former 90th Reg, now Southern Theatre) J-7Ds were still present at Pulandian. In 2012 the 30th Div/90th Reg (serials 4xx1x) got subordinated to 9th Div as 27th Reg. The aircraft initially remained at Pulandian it seems (=Northern Theatre Command!). 90th Reg. was converted from 12th Reg. earlier.
By 2021 the J-7D was withdrawn from use.
Until late 2010 the 36th Reg was based at Jinan AB, that surrendered to urban developments.
With the arrival in 2012 of J-10As at brand new air base Qihe, 34th Regiment at Wendeng was renumbered 36th making the Qihe Regiment the 34th Regiment.
In 2017 the 34th Regiment (serials 20x3x) turned into the 34th Brigade using a new serial batch.
By March 2022 the J-10C started to replace the J-10A.
In 2010 Jinan MRAF HQ flight (serials 6x4x) that operated from downtown Jinan air base moved to Qihe when the air base was surrendered to urban development (with a stop-over at Xintai until 2012).
In 2012 the unit was subordinated to 32nd Division as 96th Regiment, however without changing the serial batch to 4xx3x.
In 2017 the regiment was reorganised into the Transportation & Search and Rescue Brigade using a new serial batch.
In 1998 39 Fighter Division was merged into 21 Division but only in 2003 117th Regiment was renamed into 62nd Regiment (serials 30x2x).
In or before 2003 the 3rd Regiment had changed J8B for J-8F with J-8Bs going to the 12th Division.
In 2017 62nd Regiment (serials 3xx2x) merged with 3rd Regiment (serials 11x2x) from Anshui and together became 3rd Air Brigade with a new serial batch (61x4x).
In 2018 J-16 started to replace the J-8 (and some JJ-7A).
In 2003 J-7IIs were replaced by the Su-30 although these were still noted in 2006.
In 2012 29th Div/85th Reg (serials 4xx0x) turned into a Brigade subordinate to Shanghai Base. Subordination changed in 2017 to Fuzhou base.
In 2020 J-20s were noted at Quzhou.
Shanghai Base’s 86th Air Brigade, formed at Jiujiang/Lushan from 14th Div/41st Reg (serials 2xx5x) in April 2012, moved to Rugao early 2013.
In 2019 the J-7Es were withdrawn from use and the airbase received a major upgrade. In 2022 the 7th Air Brigade from Wuhu merged with 86th Air Brigade to continue as 7th Air Brigade based at Rugao and flying J-16.
In 2011 J-7Hs of the 7th Regiment flying from Wuhu were replaced by J-7E (J-7L) and J-7G. In 2017 these were replaced by J-16, with J-7L going to 21st Brigade.
Also in 2017 the 7th Regiment (serials 10x4x) turned into 7th Brigade subordinated to Shanghai Base using a new serial batch (61x8x). End 2022 the 7th Air Brigade relocated to Rugao to merge with the 86th Air Brigade that had been operating at that air base.
After the reorganisation into a Brigade the unit moved from Jiujiang/Lushan to Rugao.
87th Regiment operated out of Chongming using J-8Bs until it was transformed in a Special Operations unit (serials 4xx0x).
In 2012 29th Div/87th Reg changed into Shanghai Base/78th Brigade, which were replaced by J-8DFs from 4th Regiment in 2017 (with training done by JJ-7A.
In 2022 the J-8s were replaced by J-16.
In addition to the development airframe at CFTE four KJ-2000 are used in the AWACS role.
The J-7 Regiment at this base is the former 3rd Regiment of the Jinan MR Training Base (serials 6xx4x), that before that was formed from 31st Div. It is believed that in 2023 J-7 operations had stopped.
This 25th Regiment was based at Shaoguan with J-6. In 2005, with the arrival of J-7E, it moved to Shantou.
By February 2021 the unit was reported to have been converted to 25th Brigade, subordinate to Eastern TC, instead of Southern TC 25th Regiment used to be subordinated to.
Also, J-10Cs had arrived to replaced the J-7Es.
In 2012 the MR Transport Regiment (serials 6x1x) got subordinated to the newly (again) erected 16th Division as 48th Reg at Dongta (serials 21x7x).
Mid 2017 the Regiment turned into the Transportation and Search and Rescue Brigade using a new serial batch and the regiment number was re-used by a new UAV Regiment.
April 2012 the 4th Independent Reconnaissance Regiment (serials 5x1x (pre 2005:3xx2)) was renamed into 46th Regiment subordinated to the re-formed 16th Division. About the same time the last JZ-6 aircraft were wfu. April 2012 the 4th Independent Electronic Regiment (serials 5x2x) was subordinated to the re-formed 16th Division as 47th Regiment.
April 2012 the 4th FA/3rd Reg (serials 7xx4x) flying JL-8 was subordinated to Shijiazhuang FA.
By 2019 the Brigade was also using JL-10.
In 2015 the Shijiazhuang Aircraft Manufacturing Company relocated to Luancheng.
The base is also used for maintenance and storage of J-7s and J-8s at Factory 5721.
Also JJ-5s are stored by the numbers about 7km east of the base.
The 1st Training Brigade of the Shijiazhuang Flying Academy uses the initial versions of the JL-10 like this JL-10I.

In 2017 the 48th Air Regiment at Dongta was reformed into the Northern Theatre Command Transportation and SAR Brigade. With the reconnaissance drones the then erected 48th Regiment is a better fit for the 16th Special Mission Division.
By 2023 the WZ-10 was also noted with th eRegiment.
Q-5Ds were delivered in 2004 and replaced earlier Q-5 versions.
In 2009 JH-7A replaced the Q-5D with 31st Regiment.
Around July 2017 the 31st Regiment (serials 20x2x) turned into 31st Brigade using a new serial batch.
25 December 2016 the first Su-35s were delivered to China. J-11s were transferred to 4th Regiment.
By August 2017 the 6th Regiment (serials 11x3x) had turned into 6th Brigade subordinate to Nanning Base using a new serial batch (serials 61x7x).

26 October 1988 the 17th Division (serials 3xx8x) reorganized into 3rd Regiment of Beijing MR Training Base (serials 6xx2x).
In 2012 the Regiment got subordinated to 7th Division as 20th Reg. By 2019 the J-7II were replaced by J-7E, although it needs confirmation that these aircraft belong to the same unit.
It is believed that the J-7s had stopped flying by 2022.
30 September 1992 22nd Div merged with 11th Division with 66th Reg becoming 33rd Reg (serials 2xx2x).
In 2012 the 33rd Regiment got subordinated to Dalian Base as 90th Brigade.
It seems that in 2017 Q-5 had been replaced by J-7E/G, although this needs confirmation. For some years the airbase had no active unit until 2021 when a Transport Brigade with Y-5, Y-8 and Mi-17 used the base.
In 2017 the Q-5s from 13th Regiment (serials 1xx6x) operating from Weifang were withdrawn from use.
In 2007 the Q-5s within the 15th Regiment were replaced by JH-7A aircraft.
Around May 2017 the 15th Regiment (serials 11x6x) turned into 15th Brigade using a new serial batch.
October 2022 J-16s arrived, replacing the JH-7A.
In 1988 Jinan MRTB/1st Reg was formed from 31st Div/91st Reg that had operated from Yancheng earlier.
Jinan MRTB was merged with Nanjing MRTB, with 34th Regiment (serials 20x3x) being formed at Wendeng from Jinan MRTB/1st Reg from Xuzhou, that earlier had operated from Xintai.
The J-7IIs were replaced by J-7G around 2012/2013.
With the arrival of the J-10 at Qihe the Regiment was renumbered 36th Regiment and the J-7Gs were reserialled (accordingly).
In 2017 the 36th Regiment (serials 21x3x) turned into a Brigade with a new serial batch (to be confirmed)
By 2019 indications were the Brigade was flying as 34th Brigade again, now with J-7G, JL-9 and J-10A aircraft.
Wudangshan is also known as Laohekou.
The Guangzhou Military Region Training Base/1st, 2nd and 3rd Reg were formed on 11 June 1988 from 27th Div/79th, 80th and 81st Reg flying J-6 aircraft.
July 1998 the Training Base was downgraded to one Regiment (3rd) that transferred to Wudangshan (serials 61x6x).
In 2003 the Regiment (then flying with J-7IIs) got subordinated to 18th Div. as 53rd Reg using 31x9x serials initially and later 21x9x.
The first 53rd Regiment was formed in January 1954, but ceased to exist in August 1986 when it was transferred into 42nd Div/125th Regiment.
Due to the serial allocation this Regiment has been identified as 54th Regiment for a long time.
March 2017 the Regiment got subordinated to Central TC (from Southern TC).
Early 2020 the J-7IIs were replaced by J-7Es.
At Wudangshan 18th Division/53rd Regiment, the former Guangzhou MR Training Base is located using a 54th Regiment serial block.
The H-6As used were upgraded to the H-6F standard, some of which were further upgraded to the H-6M model. Also H-6Es used were upgraded to the H-6M standard.
January 2017 saw the arrival of the first H-6K aircraft with H-6Ms going to new 30th Regiment.
Wugong also houses a JH-7/H-6 maintenance facility.
The actual mix of aircraft between 107th and 108th Regiment (Brigade?) needs confirmation.
Until 2007 the unit operated from Wuhan-Hankou that was surrendered for rural development.
Starting 2013 second hand Il-76's replaced the An-26 and Y-7Hs and also Il-78's were added.
The airbase also houses a Y-7 maintenance/reclamation unit.

Until 2006 the 26th Division consisted of fighter Regiments with J-6, J-7 and J-8.
Early 2006 AWACS operations started from Wuxi with 26th Division.
With the expanding AWACS/Command & Control operations, in 2017 the Regiment was split in two regiments (76th/77th), with the 76th Regiment moving to Jiujiang/Lushan in 2019.
This KJ-200A 30672 of the 77th Regiment is an improved version of the KJ-200 flying with 76th Regiment.
In 2008 the 29th Div/86th Reg (serials 4xx0x) based at Quzhou received J-11s from 1st Division. The J-7D went to 30th Div.
In April 2012 the Regiment got subordinated to 14th Div (with the origional 41st Regiment becoming 86th Brigade).
The Regiment then moved to Wuyishan.
In 2017 the 41st Regiment (serials 20x5x) turned into 41st Brigade using a new serial batch.
Mid 2023 reports indicated that J-20s were being build for delivery to this Brigade.
Chengdu MR Training Base (serials 6xx7x) used to operate J-6 aircraft from Luliang AB, before transfer to J-7II and JJ-7A.
April 2012 this regiment got subordinated to 44th Div. as 132nd Regiment with serials 51x5x.
In 2014 132nd Regiment relocated from Luliang to Xiangyun.
In 2017 the 132nd Regiment turned into the 132nd Brigade subordinate to Nanning Baseusing a new serial batch.
J-7E replaced the J-7IIs just after 2017.
December 2020 the airbase was also used by a J-10 Brigade.
In April 2012 the 6x8x serials were replaced by 6x5x serials.
In 2015 an Y-12 aircraft were introduced.
6x5x serials were replaced by 6x1x serials after 28 April 2017 when the 15th Airborne Army reorganised into Corps of PLA airborne troops.
In 2016 the Y-12D started to replace the Y-5 with the Corps of PLA airborne troops.
In August 1985 50th Div/149th Reg got subordinated to 8th Div until May 1986 when it came directly under 10 Air Army, still as 149th Reg.
Until 22 September 1998 the unit operated from Pingquan and then moved to Qizhou-Dingxian.
April 2005 149th Reg got subordinated to 15th Div as 45th Regiment.
By 2017 the remaining Q-5s were withdrawn from use.
The Beijing Military Training Base operated from this base until the unit got subordinated to 33rd Division and renamed into 99th Regiment and moved to Chongqing/Baishiyi.
However, a J-7II Regiment still operated from this base, with reports calling this 71st Regiment/Brigade.
By early 2023 these flying activities had come to an end.
16 December 1988 32nd Div/94th Reg (serials 5xx3x) flying from Xuzhou-Daguozhuang AB was reorganized into 1st Regiment of the Nanjing MR Training Base, and later (with the MRTB merger) the Jinan MRTB. serials 6xx4x).
In 2012 the Training Base/1st Reg was subordinated (again) to the re-established 32nd Division as 94th Regiment.
By 2021 Xuzhou-Daguozhuang AB was vacated and operations shifted to the new Xuzhou-Huangjizhen AB north-west of the city, however, the J-7s were withdawn from use and Huangjizhem underwent a major expansion ready to accept J-10 like aircraft by 2023.

In September 2020 two JL-8 of the 173rd Brigade were noted on this airbase, although it needs confirmation whether the brigade based here. A few months earlier also a JL-9 was noted with the brigade. April 2012 the 13th FA/3rd Reg (serials 7xx8x) got subordinated to the Flight Instructor Training Base.
In 2009 72nd Regiment started receiving the J10A aircraft that replaced J8Es, followed by J-10C in 2018, with the J-10As going to 70th Brigade.
In 2017 the 72nd Regiment (serials 30x5x) turned into the 72nd Brigade using a new serial batch.
In 2020 JL-10A's were added to the 72nd Brigade.
J-7GB replaced J-7EB with Ba Yi on 25 April 2005 with JJ-7A acting as trainers.
In 2009 1st August started receiving the J-10AY/J-10SY aircraft and the J-7GBs went to 7th Div.In 2017 all aircraft were replaced by standard J-10A/J-10S, and these were replaced early 2023 by newbuild J-10C/J-10S.
At Yangcun the 24th Brigade is flying J-10C aircraft.

With Ba Yi flying the J-10 the air force is proud to perform abroad.
The airfield near Xingning can accommodate a full size fighter Regiment in hardened shelters or a full size H-6 Regiment used the airbase, like the 8th Div/24th Reg H-6K Regiment that used this base in 2013.
In 2014 J-7E/JJ-7 were replaced by J-10Bs.
June 2017 the 61st Regiment (serials 3xx2x) was reorganised into a Brigade using a new serial batch.
By 2022 also some Y-5 aircraft were noted at Yanji air base.
After one batch J-10B production continued with the even more advanced J-10C.
In 2017 the 21st Regiment (serials 11x8x) turned into the 21st Brigade using a new serial batch. At about the same time J-7IIs were replaced by J-7Ls coming from 7th Regiment and 42nd Regiment.
With the disbandment of 16th Regiment (until then flying with J-7) in 2003 former 47th Div/140th Regiment flying J-11 aircraft took over the Regiment number. Until 2002 the 140th Regiment had flown with the J-8A.
Around July 2017 the 16th Regiment (serials 10x7x) turned into 16th Brigade subordinate to Urumqi Base using a new serial batch.
March 2021 the J-11s were transferred to 18th Brigade and were replaced by a new type, believed to be J-10C/J-10S, but it was also reported to be J-16.
Sometimes the 16th Brigade participates in the Shaheen exercise with Pakistan, like this J-11BS in 2020.
Downtown Guangshui the former 44th Division of 15th Aviation Army was located.
In 2012 6x8x serials were replaced by 6x5x serials.
By 2014 the Y-7 was phased out.
6x5x serials were replaced by 6x1x serials after 28 April 2017 when the 15th Airborne Army reorganised into Corps of PLA airborne troops.
In 2017 Y-5s were added to this Dadui.
Y-8Cs are used by the Corps of PLA airborne troops for massive paradroppings.
In April 2012 the 6th FA/2nd Reg flying with JL-8 (serials 7xx6x) was subordinated to Shijiazhuang FA.
In 2018 JJ-7/J-7A were noted with the 2nd Brigade.
In April 2021 J-10s were noted (at Zhengzhou?) using serials of the 2nd Brigade.
Mid 2015 a Regiment J-7 aircraft started using this base.
By 2016 J-11B had replaced earlier J-11 versions.
Mid 2017 the 19th Regiment (serials 10x8x) turned into 19th Brigade using a new serial batch.
Until 2017 the 42nd Air Brigade operated from this base using J-7L fighters.
In 2017 the J-7L went to 21st Brigade and the airbase was rebuild to house H-6 like bombers.
