On 17 October 2025, the Iraqi Civil Defence Directorate has taken delivery of two KAI KUH 1IQFS Surion helicopters from Korea Aerospace Industries, marking the first time the agency has received dedicated firefighting and rescue aircraft since its founding in 1956.

The Iraqi Government has a B737-81Z at its disposal for official state visits. It is seen here at Rotterdam/The Hague Airport in the Netherlands in 2024.

On 31 October 2010, the Ministry of Agriculture signed an agreement for the supply of seven AS350B3 Ecureuil helicopters to the Iraqi Ministry of Agriculture for crop spraying missions over vast fields of date palm trees – which provide a major source of agricultural revenue for the country. Although not strictly military, the Iraqi Army Aviation Command plays a vital role in both operating and maintaining the Ecureuil helicopters and they provide Mi-171Sh helicopters, equipped with crop-spraying equipment to the Ministry of Agriculture.

The aviation assets of the Iraqi National Intelligence Service have been withdrawn from use. The DHC-6 Twin Otters have been returned to the owner, one of the Mi-172s was transferred to the Army and the Beech 1900 was transferred back to Fly Baghdad???

In May 2017, the Iraqi Air Force published a picture taken at Baghdad Rasheed which showed one of the elusive Twin Otters. Both the Su-25UBK and the DHC-6 in this picture were operated out of this location. Most probably both types were withdrawn from use by 2024.

in 2013, one of the INIS-operated DHC-6 Twin Otters was seen at Erbil, Northern Iraq (or what some would call Kurdistan). It was most probably CIA-operated at the time and next to it a Department of State Air Wing operated DC-3 Dakota can be seen.

Aviation Division EC145 (3)
The EC145s of the Ministry of oil. The Oil Exploration Company - Aviation Division is a non-military Iraqi Government body comprising of an Air Transport Department and subsequent Aviation Division, the aircraft are maintained and operated by the Iraqi Army Aviation Command, 55th squadron. Since when the Army started operating these helicopters, is unclear but the air assets have been noted with Iraqi military serials since early 2024. We assess that this transfer to the army took place after one of the helicopters crashed in Al-Anbar Governorate in September 2022. Confirmation would be welcome, however!
