The mighty Mi-24P gunships are being used for border patrol along the border of South Sudan and the Dafur area.

Geneina has a new airport with a prominent helicopter ramp. The white helicopters may be a detachment but could also belong to an other operator, e.g. the police.

Chinese built A-5 aircraft are still operated in No. 24 Squadron, aside the Su-25Ks. The operational status of the A-5s is not certain.

Sudan received around 11 Su-24M/MDs deep penetration bombers from Belarussia. All Fencers are operated in No. 4 Squadron from Wadi Sayyidna airbase.

At Kenana, there are two sites. The most prominent is under reconstruction and seems to have a permanent presence of helicopters. Maybe this is a separate squadron instead of detachment.

One of the workhorses of the Sudanese Air Force is An-12BK of No. 1 Squadron based at Khartoum Airport. Some ten were delivered but it is unclear about the operational status of these freighters.

Merowe Airbase is being used as a joint fighter training base for pilots from the Sudanese Air Force and the Egyptian Air Force. A contingent of 6 MiG-29Ms are based at Merowe AB. In April 2023, Rapid Support Forces (RSF) captured Merowe AB and all present aircraft, including Egyptian AF MiG-29Ms and Sudanese AF FTC-2000s of 66th Squadron.

Merowe is being used for detachments of fighter aircraft from Sudan AF and Egyptian AF.

The SuAF operates many variants of the Mi-8 (Mi-8PS/MT) and Mi-17 (Mi-17V-5, Mi-171E/Sh) in the assault and troop transport role.
