Aerolineas Argentinas plans for A330neos, E195-E2s, B737-800SFs and more MAXs

In an interview with Aviacionline, the President of Aerolineas Argentinas said the airline is eyeing the Airbus A330-900 and Embraer E195-E2 to renew and expand the fleet.

Although the airline still has to formally launch a Request for Proposal (RfP) to manufacturers and lessors, it plans to add four A330-900s, with delivery in 2023-2024. Initially, Aerolineas Argentinas wants to grow its widebody-fleet but will see a small reduction later as two A330-200s are set to have their leases expired in 2025 and 2026.

For its domestic and regional routes, the airline has been considering the Airbus A220-300 and Embraer E195-E2 and has set its mind on the latter. The decision has mainly been based on the ease of transition from its current fleet of ERJ190s to the E2. A formal order hasn't been placed yet but its interesting to note that, recently, Embraer announced an order for fifteen E195-E2s from an undisclosed customer.

Aerolineas Argentinas will also bring in dedicated freighter capacity by adding two Boeing B737-800SFs. The first of these, LV-CTC (30570), was delivered to the airline on 23 February 2023 and was previously in use with the airline as a passenger aircraft.

This year, the airline plans to expand the Boeing B737MAX8-fleet with three additional aircraft and in 2024 and 2025 with seven more. It's also considering adding the B737-9 to add more capacity.

Aerolineas Argentinas has a fleet of 79 aircraft, consisting of eight A330-200s, eight B737-700s, one B737-800SF, 29 B737-800s, seven B737-8s, and 26 ERJ190s.
