Amazon Air launches in India

During a special ceremony at Hyderabad on 24 January 2023, Amazon officially launched its dedicated Amazon Air division in India. The e-commerce giant has teamed-up with QuickJet Airlines, a subsidiary of ASL Aviation Holdings, which will operate two Boeing B737-800BCFs for Amazon.

At the ceremony, B737-800BCF VT-AAZ (30643) was showcased, featuring the blue Prime Air-livery. The other B737-800BCF, VT-BAZ (28382), is currently flying in the livery of QuickJet.

The operations in India are the third dedicated Amazon Air-operations after the US and Europe. The QuickJet Boeings will be flying between Bengaluru, Delhi Hyderabad, and Mumbai.

Worldwide, Amazon Air is now utilising 91 aircraft, all operated by third party airlines. The fleet consists of five ATR72-500Fs (operated by Silver Airways), 30 Boeing B737-800BCFs/SFs (operated by ASL Airlines Ireland, Atlas Air, QuickJet, and Sun Country Airlines), and 56 B767-300ERBDSFs/BCFs (operated by Air Transport International, Atlas Air, and CargoJet Airways).

The company will also add ten A330-300P2Fs to its operations, with the first due later this year. These will be operated by Hawaiian Airlines.
