Cargojet abandons B777P2F-plans

On 15 January 2024, Cargojet published an update about its (future) fleet strategy. Most notable in the announcement is that the airline has decided to completely abandon its plans to operate the Boeing B777P2F and cancel its last remaining orders for two B777-200LRMFs and two B777-300ERMFs it had with Mammoth Aerospace. In March 2023, the airline also scrapped orders for four B777-300ERSFs with IAI.

According to Cargojet, introducing the new type to the fleet "would not be strategically prudent" due to the cargo market continuing to be "soft". The CEO did said, however, that should the market improve, the airline could be adding the B777P2F easily due to the "groundwork" that has been conducted already.

Next to not taking the Triple Sevens, Cargojet is also looking to sell or lease-out at least four B757-200PCFs as they are currently surplus. It will, however, retain slots for two B767-300 converted freighters, which it will take-on when the market improves.

Currently, the Cargojet-fleet is made-up of one B757-200, seventeen B757-200PCFs, one B767-200ER, three B767-200ERBDSFs, and 21 B767-300ERBCFs/BDSFs.
