Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera is reporting on the fleet-plans of nationalised Alitalia

Already known is that the airline will shrink the fleet, but new is that it is planning to standardise the fleet on two types; the Airbus A320neo and the The Boeing Company B787.

The B787 is the favourite as Italian company Leonardo is an important supplier to Boeing for the Dreamliners. According to the newspaper, Airbus still has a shot with the A330neo and A350, but only if they are willing to provide a hefty discount.
Regional subsidiary Alitalia CityLiner will also get new planes, replacing its current fleet of Embraer E-jets with A220s. For this plane parts are also produced in Italy.

The money for these plans should come from the investment of three billion euros the Italian government is putting into Alitalia.
