IAG firms-up options with Airbus and Boeing

On 27 July 2023, IAG announced it has decided to firm-up options it had with both Airbus and Boeing for additional widebodies. According to the press-release, the new aircraft will be used to "restore capacity in the airlines' long-haul fleet".

With Airbus, IAG firmed an option for one A350-900, which is destined to go to Iberia. At Boeing, six options for the B787-10 were firmed, which are going to British Airways. IAG also took options for six more Dreamliners. Delivery of the additional aircraft is expected in 2025 and 2026.

Iberia currently has eighteen A350-900s in the fleet, with four more due later this year. British Airways had 37 B787s, which breaks down into twelve B787-8s, eighteen B787-9s, and seven B787-10s.
