Lufthansa will reactivate the A380

Last week, we reported that Lufthansa was considering to either reactivate some of its A380s or add new B777-300ERs to its fleet to cope with the sharp increase in passenger demand. On 27 June 2022, the airline officially announced it has decided to reactivate the A380 and it plans to reintroduce the type in the summer schedule of 2023. The exact number of A380s will be decided later.

Lufthansa originally had a fleet of fourteen A380s. Of these, six have been sold to Airbus, leaving eight owned by the airline. These eight, D-AIMA/B/D/E/G/H/K/L, are currently all stored at Teruel in Spain.
