New UK start-up: Ecojet

The owner of British green energy company Ecotricity has announced he is planning to establish a new green airline called Ecojet, which is planning to operate flights powered by renewable energy with zero emissions. However, to secure its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC), Ecojet will launch early 2024 with a kerosene-burning DHC-6, flying between Edinburgh and Southampton.

After about 18-months, Ecojet is planning to launch zero-emission flights by using connverted DHC-6s and DHC-8-400s, which will feature hydrogen-powered engines. Currently, companies like ZeroAvia and Universal Hydrogen are in the process of developing and certifying these new power trains, which will be possible to be fitted to existing aircraft.

Next to flying domestically, Ecojet also has plans to spread its wings to destinations in Europe.
